America, as usual, always seems to only have their own interests in mind – oil”, and not the otherway around when it comes to helping other”s. This issue is not new. If Africans would keep in mind that America is really never interested in Africans progressing economically, the better off they would be. Because if Africa starts to progress economically, the more Africa won’t need the Americans – and that’s bad business for Americans. They always want to “hook” us in like a fish in a pond – they put a little “food”(money) on the fishing rod and then the “hook” (AGOA) reels us in, and in the end WE Africans get eaten. Now, the average one-person business in Africa who struggles to stay in business to keep food on the table apparently would not benefit (according to the article). But there is hope in unity and numbers.
If small individual businesses in Africa would pool their money together in a joint-business venture, it might work. We have to find creative ways to make their system work for us. But the best way would be to use the old African concept of, Su-Su. Basically it tries to build trust among individuals. The concept is this : A group of 9 to 12 individuals (or whatever amount of people who you can trust) gather together every month and willingly give a monetary amount of money to the group (let’s say $100). Each month an individual collects the money from the pot.
