The Queen is the head of 13 Commonwealth states, and the others are mainly still backward monarchies. The Commonwealth as a communtiy of nations has to be shown to welcome its members at major occasions. Commonwealth leaders are invited to most important events in commonwealth countries.

The Royal family aren’t snobs, they are hugely Middle Class, as most of the Aristocracy know. The Royals aren’t pure-bred Upper class brits, but a mongrel family from Germany and everybody knows it, even them, so they are anything but snobs.
