Thank God It’s Monday

Many people are fond of saying “Thank God It’s Friday”. Why is this so? It is so because Friday comes as a big relief to such people. They look forward to Friday right from the beginning of every working week. Some cannot wait for Friday to come before they go into wild jubilation. Friday becomes a day of escape from the drudgery they call “work”. They are ecstatic about Friday simply because they are not enjoying what they do. When you enjoy what you do you will look forward to the beginning of every working week rather than the end of it. In fact, everyday is your Friday. Your slogan will then change to “Thank God It’s Monday”.

In the course of my interaction with people at various fora I have come to realise that if you are not passionate about what you do you cannot make any meaningful impact in life. People that eagerly look to the arrival of Friday are only working to survive.  They are not doing it because they crave for fulfilment. So, they will only be happy on Friday when they can escape from the torture they call work or job.

For you to enjoy what you do you must know that career has no other meaning than “what God has deposited in you to make you who you are”. It is “what God has put in you to perform important responsibilities without stress”. It is actually what God has put in you to lift you up. You cannot be a carrier of God’s purpose and be unhappy. Once what you do is God’s purpose for you, you will not be under any stress or pressure. You will radiate happiness and fulfilment. You will be happy each day at work and everyday will be your Monday.

If what you do at the moment is not making you happy, you need to pause and ponder on the following questions:

  1. Did you choose your career by imitation?
  2. Is your choice of career borne out of quest for money?
  3. Did you choose your career because of other people’s opinion (s)?

If your answer to any of these posers is “yes”, you may need to have a rethink about your career. Otherwise you may still continue to look forward to Friday as a day of escape from your perpetual suffering. If you are still wondering why I am saying this, let me tell you that imitation cannot be like the original, should you have chosen your career based on imitation. And if it is because of money, money only answers to solution provision or value addition, not just quest for it. If what you do adds value or solves problems you will make money. And if your choice has been based on people’s opinion (s), you have allowed others to take over the driver’s seat of your life. You are living your life based on what others said. Too bad! But it is not too late to retrace your steps.

To make your slogan “Thank God It’s Monday”, you need to discover what you have passion for. Not just this, polish your passion to the level of skill. Like my Pastor will say “Skill yourself and you will kill poverty, lack and sadness”. You then need to step out and do something about your skill. It’s what you do with what you have that makes you happy daily. Look inward, go for your passion and your slogan shall henceforth be: THANK GOD IT’S MONDAY.

    1. Thanks for your comment. I started blogging about 3 years ago, not seriously though. I actually started doing it professionally a year ago to complement my public speaking career.
Once again, thank you and I hope to see you at the top.

  1. Awesome. I think ‘Thank God it’s Friday’ means one is giving up on life. While ‘Monday’ means hei I’m ready to face what is coming. That’s amazing insight.
