The Prayer

Hey Dear, TGIFriday!

Thank God for letting us see this blessed day 18th March 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s start this new day by rejoicing in the Lord. Praise God…Hallelujah!

As we BELIEVE & DELIGHT in the Lord this year, our heart desires will be granted unto us in Jesus Name! Still looking at the L in D.E.L.I.G.H.T – {LOVE as it relates to delighting in God}.

Be blessed as you listen to the lyrics of the song “The Prayer” by Donnie McClurkin & Yolanda Adams – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XfJZg3osHI – As we go into this weekend — let the lyrics of this song be our prayer: That God’s eyes will be our eyes, to watch us where we go. That we will find the light of God and hold it in our heart. That God will lead us to a place,  He will guide us with His grace — to a place where we’ll be safe… to a place of His divine love.

Have a safe and LOVE-filled weekend.

L.OVE – Meets all Requirements

Loving Regards,

Temidayo

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 17th day of March 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord. Praise God…Hallelujah!

As we BELIEVE & DELIGHT in the Lord this year, our heart desires will be granted unto us in Jesus Name! Still looking at the L in D.E.L.I.G.H.T – {LOVE as it relates to delighting in God}.

Let’s continue the love (agápē, αγάπη) series by looking further at Romans 13: 8 .. the 2nd part says:…. for he who loves his neighbor [who practices loving others] has fulfilled the Law [relating to one’s fellowmen, meeting all its requirements] (AMPL). …. If you love your neighbor, you will fulfill the requirements of God’s law (NLT). …When you love others, you complete what the law has been after all along. (MSG). …If you love others, you have done all that the Law demands (CEV). …. because the person who loves others has obeyed all the law (CEV). Here we are being admonished to love our neighbors because loving others is what helps us fulfill the requirement of the law.

Therefore, if we love others we are loving God. If we love others we are standing for what the law of God says. If we love others we have done what God demand from us. If we love others we have obeyed the commandments of God. If we love others we are pleasing God. If we love others we are meeting the requirements of the scriptures. If we love others we are showing God we are in covenant with Him. If we love others we are expressing our love for God.

As we seek to delight in God this year, May we continue to stir up the gift of love that has been shed in our heart. May we continue to pay the debt of love we owe others.

Have a LOVE-filled day!

Loving Regards,Temidayo

L.OVE – Perpetual Obligation

Hey Dear,

Thank God for today the 16th day of March 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord. Praise God…Hallelujah!

As we BELIEVE & DELIGHT in the Lord this year, our heart desires will be granted unto us in Jesus Name! Still looking at the L in D.E.L.I.G.H.T – {LOVE as it relates to delighting in God}.

Let’s continue the love (agápē, αγάπη) series by looking further at Romans 13: 8 Owe nothing to anyone—except for your OBLIGATION to love one another…(NLT). Yesterday we said: Love for others is an obligation. Another point I want us to look at is that: Love for others is a perpetual obligation. Though we can pay off all our debts, there is one debt we can never pay off: the debt of love. A man of God Origen wrote, “The debt of love is permanent, and we are never finished with it; for we must pay it daily and yet always owe it.” In other words, we can never reach a point where we say, “I have loved that person all I need to; but we must keep on loving. Also, husbands should understand that they never pay up their debt of love to their wives. You can’t say, “I’ve told you that I love you a thousand times. Now I don’t have to tell you anymore.”

My dear! We might become weary of expressing love, especially on unworthy recipients. We might even find people taking advantage of us because we are showing love. But let’s be encouraged and always remind ourselves that: Love is a perpetual obligation and we must continue to pay the debt of love we owe by loving others as ourselves.

Have a LOVE-filled day!

Loving Regards,Temidayo

L.OVE – An obligation

Hey Dear,

Thank God for today the 15th day of March 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord.

This translation (New Living Translation) says: Love for others is an obligation. An obligation is something that you owe, or a debt that you have to pay.

My dear! Love for others is an obligation because we are permanently in debt to Christ for the unconditional love he has poured out on us. We are forever indebted to Jesus for the sacrificial love He has bestowed upon us. And the only way we can begin to repay this debt is by fulfilling our obligation to love others in return. As the scripture in 1 John 5: 11 says: Dear friends, since God loved us this much, we certainly ought to love each other. No one has seen God, ever. But if we love one another, God dwells deeply within us, and his love becomes complete in us—perfect love!

So my dear! as we continue to seek to delight in God – let’s make it an obligation to love others… love  the “whosoever”… love the unlovable…love the enemy… love everyone!

Have a LOVE-filled day!!

Loving Regards,Temidayo

L.OVE – A debt..

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 14th day of March 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord. Praise God…Hallelujah!

As we BELIEVE & DELIGHT in the Lord this year, our heart desires will be granted unto us in Jesus Name! Still looking at the L in D.E.L.I.G.H.T – {LOVE as it relates to delighting in God}.

Sometime ago we looked @ Luke 12:29 -31 & Matt 22:37 -40 and said: “Love God & Love others” is what all the Law and the Prophet is based on; that is true Christianity begins and ends in love to God and man.

Let’s continue the love (agápē, αγάπη) series by looking the in Romans 13: 8 Keep out of debt and owe no man anything, except to love one another… (AMPL). Owe nothing to anyone—except for your obligation to love one another…(NLT). Don’t run up debts, except for the huge debt of love you owe each other…. (MSG). Let love be your only debt! If you love others…(CEV). Do not owe people anything, except always owe love to each other… (NCV). The 1st part of this verse is saying: We must pay all the duties/bills we incur J! And we should endeavor to owe no one anything except love.

My dear! The Word coming us today is that: Love is a debt! A debt we owe to everyone and have to pay. Love is a debt that we are obliged to pay. Love is a debt that we must continue to pay throughout our life. Love is a debt which you and I must endeavor to pay every new day. Love is a debt we must seek to pay no matter what. Love is a debt we must pay to everyone we come across. Love is a debt you and I must be ready to pay in and out of season.  Love is a debt that we must ensure we keep paying on a daily basis. Love is a debt we have to pay no matter how we feel. My prayer today as we seek to express delight in God is that we will receive the grace we need to express love to God and to pay our debt of love to others.

Have a LOVE-ly week!

Loving Regards,Temiday

L-OVE: Whosoever...!

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 10th day of March 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord. Praise God…Hallelujah!

As we BELIEVE & DELIGHT in the Lord this year, our heart desires will be granted unto us in Jesus Name! Still looking at the L in D.E.L.I.G.H.T – {LOVE as it relates to delighting in God}.

Let’s continue this series on Agape (agápē, αγάπη), which is the supernatural cement that bonds together the human loves and makes our love life complete by looking further at the scripture in John 3:16 which says: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that WHOSOEVER believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” The scripture says that God so loved us that He gave He gave us His one and only that whosoever… – this means that God’s love is for whosoever…!

My dear! The Word to us today is that: God’s love is not just for a particular kind of people…but for whosoever! God’s love is not just for a selected group of people…but for whosoever! God’s love is not just “spooky deep, spiri” people…but for whosoever! God’s love is not just for the people in our core group …but for whosoever! God’s love is not just for the Jews…but for the Gentiles as well. God’s love is not just for believer…but for the sinners as well. God’s love is not just for the Kingdom people… but for the everyone. God’s love is not just for those who do good…but for those who make mistakes. God’s love is not just for those whose live a good life… but for those who don’t have it all together. God’s love is for whosoever…!

As we go into this new day – remember love is for whosoever! so let’s take time to share the love of God that has been shed abroad in our heart with whosoever comes our way this season.

Go ahead and love those ‘whosoevers” in your world J!

Have a lovely day!

Loving Regards,

Temidayo

L-OVE – Agape = Giving!

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 9th day of March 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord. Praise God…Hallelujah!

As we BELIEVE & DELIGHT in the Lord this year, our heart desires will be granted unto us in Jesus Name! Still looking at the L in D.E.L.I.G.H.T – {LOVE as it relates to delighting in God}.

Let’s continue this series on Agape (agápē, αγάπη), by looking further at the scripture in John 3:16 which says: “For God so loved the world, that he GAVE his ONLY begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” The scripture says that: God so loved us that He gave us something . God gave something specific — He gave His only begotten Son. God gave His One and Only. God gave something really dear to His heart. God gave something that is really important to Him. God gave something really costly. God gave something is precious to Hm. God gave His one and only because of the love He has for you and I. What a word!

My dear! The Word coming to us today is that: What is that “One and Only” – what is that thing that we need to give because of love. What is that thing that we need to give to humanity. What is that thing that we need to do in order to serve the body of Christ. What is that thing that we need to give to our loved ones. What is that thing that we must give up for the sake of others. What is that gift/talent that we need to share in order to express our love. What is that thing that we need to do in order to reach out to those around us. What is that thing that we must give up for the sake of those we love. What is that “One and Only”?

As we continue in this season – lets think about that “One and Only” that we need to give in order to express our love to God and those around us.

Have a great giving season!

Loving Regards,

Temidayo

L-OVE – Agape = Giving!

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 8th day of March 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord. Praise God…Hallelujah!

As we BELIEVE & DELIGHT in the Lord this year, our heart desires will be granted unto us in Jesus Name! Still looking at the L in D.E.L.I.G.H.T {LOVE as it relates to delighting in God}.

Let’s continue this series on by looking further at Agape (agápē, αγάπη), which is the supernatural cement that bonds together the human loves and makes our love life complete. There are many passages in the Bible that give us God’s definition of love. The most common verse is John 3:16 which says: “For God so loved the world, that he GAVE his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. The scripture says: for God so loved… He gave! So we can say God’s kind of love (agape) is in the act of giving. We see here that what God gave was not a mere gift-wrapped present; but God sacrificed His only Son so that we, who put our faith in His Son, will not spend eternity separated from Him. This is an amazing love, because we are the ones who choose to be separated from God through our own sin, yet it’s God who mends the separation through His intense personal sacrifice, and all we have to do is accept His gift. What an awesome gift of love!!

The Word of the Lord coming to us today is that: Love = God’s kind of love is about giving! God’s kind of love is about sharing what we have. God’s kind of love is about reaching out to others.

So my dear! God gave us Jesus because of His Agape love to us — the question to us today is that what are we (you & I) going to give? What are we going to give to the lover of our soul? What are we going to give to the One who loved us even when we are yet sinners. What are we going to give to the One who took on sin for our sake? What are we going to give to the One who became poor that we might be rich in God? What are we going to give to the One who endured all shame/pains/anguish for our sake? What are we going to give to humanity?

As we continue in this new day – let’s take time to think of what we need to give to our Lord and Master, who loves us with an everlasting love.

Have a gr8 giving season!

Loving Regards,

Temidayo

L-OVE: Agape vs. Human Loves

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 7th day of March 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord. Praise God…Hallelujah!

As we BELIEVE & DELIGHT in the Lord this year, our heart desires will be granted unto us in Jesus Name! Still looking at the L in D.E.L.I.G.H.T – {LOVE as it relates to delighting in God}.

Let’s continue this series by comparing Agape (agápē, αγάπη) with the three (Phileo, Storge and Eros) loves we have looked at so far:

  • Phileo, Storge and Eros are all “human” loves….Agape, however, is God’s Love. (1 John 4:8)
  • Agape cannot die…for God cannot die. God is Eternal, and therefore, His Love is Eternal as well.
  • Agape is Perfect it is Unconditional, it is Totally Forgiving. No human being that I am aware of has, or ever will have, the ability to love in this manner.
  • Agape loves for loves sake. It expects no rewards, it wants nothing in return..except that love be given back to it.
  • Agape is not limited by its environment and someone’s perception.
  • Agape is based on commitment not a responsive feeling to how someone has been treated. Agape is capable of acting in a hostile environment where there are no warm fuzzy feelings.

The truth coming to us today is that Agape (God’s kind of love) is the love that cement and seals the different kinds of human love. Agape is the foundation on which every other kind of love should stand in order for it not to fail. Agape is the love that God expects us to share with everyone around us.

My dear! Agape is what will sustain the Eros that is shared between husband & wife. Agape is what will uphold the Phileo that we share with our friends & colleagues at work place. Agape is what will enable the Storge that is shared between the children and parents. Agape is what will sustains every relationship. Agape is what will help us not to grow weary in well doing. Agape is what will enable us to love the ‘unlovable’. Agape is what will help us to live at peace with all everyone. Agape is what will enable us to live a life that is pleasing to God in every way.

Today, O Lord.. I pray that you will grant us the grace to live a life of “Agape” (a love that is real/true/genuine/supernatural) in all that we think, say or do in Jesus Name. Amen!

Enjoy a love filled day & week!

Loving Regards

Let’s rejoice and be glad because we will dwell in the house of the Lord forever! Enjoy the unconditional LOVE of God this day & weekend.

Loving Regards,

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 3rd day of March 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord. Praise God…Hallelujah!

As we BELIEVE & DELIGHT in the Lord this year, our heart desires will be granted unto us in Jesus Name! Still looking at the L in D.E.L.I.G.H.T – {LOVE as it relates to delighting in God}.

We looked at the different kind of human love – let’s continue this series by looking at “Agape” which is the supernatural cement that bonds together the human loves and makes love complete.

Agape (agápē, αγάπη) –is a word which represents the divine love of God toward His Son, human beings in general and believers. It is also used to depict the outwardly focused love God expects believers to have for one another. (Vine’s Complete Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words, “Love”).

This special type of Christian love, is expressed in Jesus Christ’s statement in John 15:13, “Greater love [agape] has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” Jesus Himself exemplified this kind of love throughout His lifetime, continually giving of Himself and His time and energies to serve others and ultimately offering up His life as a sacrifice for all of humanity. This is the kind of love God wants each of us to exemplify in our lives.

My dear! As you continue in this new month, let’s rejoice and be glad in the “Agape Love” – The love that God has bestowed on us in that while we were sinners He died for us. Let’s rejoice and be glad in this “Agape” love that is perfect, total, complete, selfless, sacrificial, undying, unconditional, eternal, and it is for all men, for all times.

As we continue to seek to delight in the Lord this year – let’s take time to express the agape love of God that has been shed in our heart to those around us.

Enjoy ur “Agape-ic” season – season to express the divine love of God!

Loving Regards,

L.OVE: Storge vs Phileo II

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 2nd day of March 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord. Praise God…Hallelujah!

As we BELIEVE & DELIGHT in the Lord this year, our heart desires will be granted unto us in Jesus Name! Still looking at the L in D.E.L.I.G.H.T – {LOVE as it relates to delighting in God} — the different kind of love, how we can express them how they relate to one another.

Yesterday we started looking at Storge vs. Phileo: as they relate to one another. We said all love is based in God because God is Love! But all these different kinds of love we have been talking about depend on human beings which does depend on normal, everyday emotions /chemistry /feelings – hence a tendency not to last permanently. The truth is that the human element alone is not sufficient to sustain these different kind of love. These “human loves” cannot exist without God – Phileo & Storge love needs God to exist: to live and last forever.

For example,

·         Someone walking in a friendship love (Phileo) will not stand and battle till the end. It will flee if danger arises or can see danger coming their way. But if it is combined with God’s sacrificial love, there is a chance that it will stand and last forever.

·         The “friendship” a man and a woman have for each other when they fall in love is what helps them to be best friends…sharing, caring, giving. But this must be combined and cemented together with God’s kind of love, or else it will fail as time goes on.

·         The love (Storge) expressed between a child and parent can die when a child rebels to the extent of bringing shame to the parent and then the parent withdraws. But this can be made alive if combined with other kinds of human love and then cemented with the supernatural love of God (Agape).

As we go into this new day – let remind ourselves that all things human (Eros, Phileo, and Storge) can be abused, and misused. But when these human loves are combined with the “Eternal/Agape Love..a love that God intends, there’s a guarantee that they will last.

Loving Regards,

Temidayo

L-OVE – Storge..

Hey Dear,

Happy New March!!

Thank God for the 1st day of March 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord. Praise God…Hallelujah!

As we continue to BELIEVE & DELIGHT in the Lord this new month of March, may all our heart desires will be granted unto us. May we experience the supernatural power of God in our life this month of March. May we see the manifestation of the promises of God in our life this new month in Jesus mighty Name.. amen!

Still looking at the L in D.E.L.I.G.H.T – {LOVE as it relates to delighting in God} — the different kind of love, how we can express them, how they relate to one another etc.

Today, let look at Storge vs. Phileo: as they relate to one another —

Phileo is the friendship type of love. It has its root in the social need of every human being, as we are all born with an innate desire to be loved and accepted. Phileo is the love that one has for a friend. It is the type of love that says “I need you in my life, so I will befriend you…you need me, so you can befriend me.”

Storge is a family kind of love. It is evident in the warm affection that parents have toward their children. It is based on instinct as no one has to tell a new mother that she need to protect and nurture her child. It is automatic.

Phileo is a selfish type of love. Often, it says: “I like you if you like me.” Rarely, will someone with Phileo kind of love stand up and give their life for their beloved (friend). Phileo is usually a “what’s in it for me?” type of love. It is self-centered. Unlike Phileo love, Storge love will offer itself in death if that is what is needed to protect their loved one (family). It will not flee from danger, abandoning the beloved. Unlike Phileo, Storge begins to “love” for the sake of loving i.e. because they have to. It is not as conditional as Phileo love. A new mother loves her child simply because he or she is her child. Storge says: “I will love you because I should love you”; but Phileo Love says: “I will “love” you if” you do this or that”

As we continue in this new month – let remind ourselves that all the different kind of (human) love – Eros, Phileo and Storge are based in God because God is Love!

Enjoy a LOVE-filled day!

Loving Regards,

Temidayo

L-OVE – Storge..

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 28th = last day of February 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord. Praise God…Hallelujah!

As we BELIEVE & DELIGHT in the Lord this year, our heart desires will be granted unto us in Jesus Name! Still looking at the L in D.E.L.I.G.H.T – {LOVE as it relates to delighting in God}

We looked at the different kind of love – today let’s emphasize on “Storge” (Greek: Storgē (στοργή) – Storge is family love, the bond that exists within a family. This is the affection that naturally occurs between parents and children, exists between siblings, and exists between husbands and wives in a good marriage. This kind of love that is not directly mentioned in the Bible. However, many examples of family love are found in Scripture, such as the love and mutual protection among Noah and his family in the love of Jacob for his sons in the book of Genesis; and the strong love the sisters Martha and Mary in the gospels had for their brother Lazarus. Paul admonished – Children, OBEY your parents in the Lord, for this is just and right. 2 Honor (esteem and value as precious) your father and your mother…. [Eph 6:1-2]. And the parents are admonished in vs.4 – Fathers, do not irritate and provoke your children to anger, but bring them up [tenderly] in the training and discipline and the counsel and admonition of the Lord.

Storge is a need-love – as a new born baby is totally dependent on the mother for survival and wellbeing. She gives births, gives milk, cares and protects. The baby associates mother with safety and welfare and a mother associates the baby as one to be protected, nurtured, cared for, and loved.

Storge can also said to be the love of one person for his leader & vice versa – as Ephesians 6:5 says:  Servants, respectfully obey your earthly masters having respect for them and eager concern to please them…

As we continue to seek to delight in God this year – may God grant us the grace to express “Storge” love in our family and work relationships.

Enjoy a “Storge-ic” week at home and workplace J!

L-OVE – Phileo..

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 24th Day of February 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord. Praise God…Hallelujah!

As we BELIEVE & DELIGHT in the Lord this year, our heart desires will be granted unto us in Jesus Name! Still looking at the L in D.E.L.I.G.H.T – {LOVE as it relates to delighting in God}

We looked at the different kind of love (by their Greek names) – today let’s emphasize on “Phileo” (Greek: φιλέω or phileō) – Phileo (verb) means “‘to have ardent affection and feeling’—a type of impulsive love” (Nelson’s New Illustrated Bible Dictionary, 1995, “Love“). The word phileo is seen in the naming of the city of Philadelphia, which means “the city of brotherly love.”. A city where unity existed among the brethren. This kind of love, is the natural, human type of love and affection that we have for a people. Phileo love is mentioned in a number of places in the scriptures e.g. John Chapter 16 verse 27 –“He said to Him, ‘Yes, Jesus said, “For the Father Himself loves (phileo) YOU, because you have loved (phileo) Me…” –John Chapter 21 verse 15 – 17: ….17 A third time he asked him, “Simon son of John, do you love (phileo) me?”Peter was hurt that Jesus asked the question a third time. He said, “Lord, you know everything. You know that I love (phileo) you.” Jesus said, “Then feed my sheep.

Phileo love is having tender affection toward people. Most friendships are built on phileo love. Phileo love is that “thing” that you see in another person that draws you to be their friend. Phileo love is the kind of love that makes the unconditional love of agape enjoyable. It’s the joy of the friendship! Husbands and wives should have this tender love (phileo) for each other while they overlook each other’s faults and failures (agape). We have to start off in Phileo love, to get to Agape love.

As we continue to seek to delight in God this year – may God grant us the grace to express “phileo = brotherly love” to those around us.

Enjoy a “phileo-ic” day J!

Loving Regards,

L-OVE: Eros

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 23rd Day of February 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord. Praise God…Hallelujah!

As we BELIEVE & DELIGHT in the Lord this year, our heart desires will be granted unto us in Jesus Name! Still looking at the L in D.E.L.I.G.H.T – {LOVE as it relates to delighting in God}

We looked at the different kind of love (by their Greek names) – let’s emphasize on “Eros” (Greek: ρως”)– the word ‘erotic’ comes from Eros which is a word used to express sexual love or the feelings of arousal that are shared between people who are physically attracted to one another.

Although not found in Scriptures, it was used in classical Greek writings. Part of the reason why this word is not found in the new testament is that God is more concerned about how we treat him and each other rather than on our physical sensations.

This type of love is about ideal beauty, passionate physical and emotional, lustful love. It is a kind of a self centered love. It is not concerned about the other person and is based on attraction and desire. The Eros type of love is not sinful. Rather, it is the gift of God to married couples to express their love for one another, strengthen the bond between them, and ensure the survival of the human race. The Bible devotes one whole book to the blessings of erotic, or sexual, love—Song of Solomon. The love between a husband and a wife should be, among other things, an erotic love. However, a long-term relationship based solely on erotic love is doomed to failure. The ‘thrill’ of sexual love wears off quickly unless there is some godly love to go along with it. http://www.gotquestions.org/eros-love.html

My prayer today is that the “Eros’ kind of love will be stirred up between husband and wife – so that intimacy and the bond of love will be strengthened in marriages – in Jesus name. Amen!

Have a LOVE-ly day!’

L-OVE: Kind of…

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 22nd Day of February 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord. Praise God…Hallelujah!

As we BELIEVE & DELIGHT in the Lord this year, our heart desires will be granted unto us in Jesus Name! Still looking at the L in D.E.L.I.G.H.T – {LOVE as it relates to delighting in God}

Today let’s look at different kind of love (by their Greek names), some of which are mentioned in the bible –

Eros: ‘… is romantic love, sexual love…’ – This type of love is about ideal beauty, passionate physical and emotional, lustful love. It usually refer to sex and this type of love is that seen between a man and his wife. It is based on attraction and desire.
Mania: This type of love is a highly obsessive and volatile form of love. This type of love is usually seen in people with a very low self esteem – they tend to get too involved and this kind of love later changes to jealousy & possessiveness and can be very dangerous to all parties involved.

Ludus: This is about a love game, where a lover wants to have fun and not get into a serious form of relationship.

Storge: ‘…something like “natural love” or “family love” – This type of love normally refers to the love of friendship, family love, a love shared between parents and children.

Phileo: ‘…the love of friendship’ – This type of love, mentioned in the Bible that refers to brotherly love. In John 21:15-16, Jesus asked Peter if he loved Him and Peter responded that he had the normal human type of love for Him. Phileo is deep rooted emotion where love grows and both partners are benefited from the friendship.
Agape: This type of love, mentioned in the Bible relates to a dutiful, selfless love e.g. love between a mother and her child that is given without ever asking for anything in return. This kind of love is best expressed in Jesus Christ’s statement in John 15:13, “Greater love [agape] has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends” – Jesus exemplified this kind of love through his lifetime.
For the next few days, we will be looking in details at the some of these kinds of love – what it they mean and how we should express this kind of love.

Enjoy your love-filled day!

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 21st Day of February 2011 a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord. Praise God…Hallelujah!

As we BELIEVE & DELIGHT in the Lord this year, our heart desires will be granted unto us in Jesus Name! Still looking at the L in D.E.L.I.G.H.T – {LOVE as it relates to delighting in God}.

For the next couple of days, I want us to look at – what love is, the different types of love and how to express love.

Love is universal i.e. Love is the universal language of this world as it transcends peoples, nations and religions. Love is limitless i.e. it has no boundaries.

The American Heritage Dictionary defines love as: “an intense affection for another person based on personal ties” – “affection based on admiration, benevolence, or common interest” – “attraction based on sexual desires”. We say we love other people, when we are attracted to them and when they make us feel good. The key phrase in the dictionary definition of love is the phrase “based on”. This phrase implies that we love conditionally; in other words, we love someone because they fulfill a condition that we require before we can love them. How many times have you heard or said, “I love you because of what you do to me;” or “I love you because you are fun to be with”?

Here are some definitions of love from some of the Bible dictionaries and commentaries — Love is:

1.      The unconditional, benevolent concern for another; brotherly concern or affection

2.      The self-denying, self-sacrificing, Christ-like love which is the foundation of our salvation

3.      The unselfish and loyal concern for the well being of another

4.      The high esteem which God has for His children, and the high regard which they in turn should have for Him and other people

As we seek to delight in God this year – may God continue to grant us the grace to understand what love is and how to express love in all we do and say.

Have a LOVE-filled day!

Temidayo

Hey Dear, TGIFriday!

Thank God for letting us see this blessed day 18th February 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s start this new day by rejoicing in the Lord. Praise God…Hallelujah!

As we continue to BELIEVE & DELIGHT in the Lord this year 2011, our heart desires will be granted unto us this year in Jesus Name!.

Remember everything hangs on love – God’s kind of love! (Matt 22:37 -40). As we go into this weekend – let’s rejoice and be glad because God loves us and He expressed His true love to us by sending His only begotten Son to die for our sins.

Be blessed as you listen to the lyrics of this song “He has His hands on you” by Marvin Sapp – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHj49WzGpXk

My dear! Be encouraged as you go into this new day and weekend because no matter what life throws at you… no matter what may come your way – God’s hands are on you!

Have a LOVE-filled weekend.

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 16th February 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord. Praise God…Hallelujah!

As we BELIEVE & DELIGHT in the Lord this year, our heart desires will be granted unto us in Jesus Name! We want to continue to look at the L in D.E.L.I.G.H.T – {LOVE as it relates to delighting in God}

Let’s look a scripture in the book of Mark Chapter 12 – in this scripture, there was a discussion going on about between the religious rulers about the scenario of  7 brothers and 1 woman between them — they wanted to know whose wife she will be after death. Jesus was like: “you guys are way off  base” because this whole issue is not what is important to God at all. They were puzzled by this response and wanted to know which commandment is then the most important one. Then verse 28 – 31 says:  One of the teachers of religious law was standing there listening to the debate. He realized that Jesus had answered well, so he asked, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” 29 Jesus replied, “The most important commandment is this: ‘Listen, O Israel! The Lord our God is the one and only Lord. 30 And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’ 31 The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.”

This scripture is telling is that love of the most important commandment, that is nothing is as important as love – nothing is important to God as expressing love.

My dear! the Word to us this season of love is that: as we seek to delight in God we must take our “love life” seriously. We must take time to understand what love is. We must seek to understand the different kinds of love. We must seek to understand what is expected of us as we desire to love. We must show our love to God by obeying His commandments. We must love God with our heart, mind, body & soul. We must love others even the “unlovable” as ourselves. We must love the Word of God. We must love the things of the Kingdom.

May God help us as we seek to delight in God through loving God & loving others.

Enjoy your love-filled life!!

Loving Regards,

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 15th day of February 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord. Praise God…Hallelujah!

Year 2011 is indeed a year filled with great blessings & promises – as we DELIGHT in the Lord this season may our heart desires be granted unto us in Jesus Name!

Yesterday valentine’s day we looked at the book of Psalm Chapter 40 – verse 10 says: I have not concealed Your righteousness within my heart; I have proclaimed Your faithfulness and Your salvation. I do not conceal your love and your faithfulness  from the great assembly. We said that David expressed his delight in God by not concealing the faithfulness and steadfast love of God. We see more evidence of this reported throughout the scripture – in the book of Psalm.

The Psalmist made sure he told everyone in the great assembly about the unfailing love of God (Psalm 13 vs. 5). He ensured that he mentioned God’s great love to everyone (Psalm 17 vs. 7).  David told everyone about the wonders of the love of God (Psalm 31vs.21). He told everyone how priceless the love of God is (Psalm 36 vs. 7). David spoke about the ‘height’ of the love of God – that it reaches to the heavens (Psalm 57 vs. 10). He spoke of the love of God that is better than life itself (Psalm 63 vs. 3). David spoke of the goodness that is in the love of God (Psalm 69 vs. 16). He spoke of the love of God that satisfies every soul (Psalm 90 vs. 14). David spoke of the love of God that stands firm (Psalm 100 vs. 5). He spoke of the love of God which is from everlasting to everlasting (Psalm 103 vs. 17). David spoke of the love of God that endures forever (Psalm 136).

My dear! let’s also take time to express our delight in God by speaking of the love of God to everyone and in every situation.

For the next couple of weeks, we will be looking at the L in D.E.L.I.G.H.T – LOVE as it relates to delighting in God — a condition we must fulfill in order for our heart desires to be granted as stated in Psa 37 vs. 4.

May God grant us the grace we need to continue to radiate the love of God that has been shed in our heart through our salvation.

Have a LOVE-ly day!

Loving Regards,

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 14th day of February 2011 a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord. Praise God…Hallelujah!

Year 2011 a year filled with great blessings & promises – as we DELIGHT in the Lord this season may our heart desires be granted unto us in Jesus Name!

Still looking at the book of Psalm Chapter 40 – verse 10 says– I have not concealed Your righteousness within my heart; I have proclaimed Your faithfulness and Your salvation. I do not conceal your steadfast LOVE and your faithfulness  from the great assembly.

From this scripture, David is saying in this scripture that he has committed himself to proclaiming the right standing in God in the great assembly. David is expressing his delight in God by speaking about His faithfulness. He is saying he did not conceal the steadfast love and truth of God. This means he took it upon himself to share the righteousness, the faithfulness and the love of God with people in the tabernacle.

The Word coming to us this season is that: For us to express our delight in God we must not conceal the love of God,. We must not hide the love that God has lavished upon us by sending His only begotten son to die for us. But we must express the love of God to the whole assembly. We must express the love of God people around us. We must express the truth of the Kingdom by the life we live. We must express the sacrificial love of God to everyone we come across.

My dear! Today as the whole world celebrate Valentine’s day – a day set aside to express LOVE… let’s take time to express our love to God. Let’s express God’s love to the people around us.

I want to use this opportunity Happy Valentine’s day!! And my prayer is that the love of God which is shed in our hearts will continue to radiate to those around us.

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 10th day of February 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord. Praise God…Hallelujah!

Year 2011 is indeed a year filled with great blessings & promises – as we DELIGHT in the Lord this new month may our heart desires be granted unto us in Jesus Name!

Still looking at the E as {Expression – Some ways by which we can to express our delight in God} in D.E.L.I.G.H.T. In Psalm Chapter 40 verse 6, we said God is not really after “religion = our religious acts”. Then the question is: what is it then that God requires? What do we need to do to express our delight in the Lord? The scripture records what David said in verse 8: “I delight to do Your will, O my God”

The Word to us today is that: what matters is our obedience to God i.e. our obedience to God is our expression of our delight in Him. Our delight in God must be fueled by obedience and our obedience should be fueled by our affection. Jesus makes a connection between affection and obedience many times in the new testament e.g  the book of John Chapter 14 vs.23 when He says, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word”. We must not replace our obedience with the works (duties) we do.

So my dear! if we are to really show that we delight in the Lord –if we are to say that we love the Lord then we must obey His Word (commandments)

As we continue in this season – may the grace to express our delight (love) for God through obedience be released upon us..

Kind Regards,

Temi,

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 9th February 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord. Praise God…Hallelujah!

Year 2011 is indeed a year filled with great blessings & promises – as we BELIEVE & DELIGHT in the Lord our heart desires will be granted unto us this year in Jesus Name!

Still looking at {E as “Expressions – Some ways by which we can to express our delight in God”} using the scripture in the book of  Psalm Chapter 40: 6Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but my ears you have pierced; burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not require.. (NIV, 1984)

The part b of the scripture says “…but my ears you have pierced…”

A commentary on this portion says: Hebrew servants who pledged to serve a master for life were marked by having their ear held against a door post and pierced with an awl (Exod. 21: 5-6). So David’s “pierced ears” suggest a whole hearted commitment to serve God and indicates a ear ready to hear (and obey) God’s words (Jer. 6:10)

So my dear, the word of the Lord coming to  us today is that if we are to delight in the Lord this year – we must have “pierced ears” i.e. we must be committed to God whole heartedly. We mustn’t be one leg in the Word – one leg in the world. We must be fully committed to God & the things of the kingdom. We must be ready to say “yes’ to the will and way of the Lord. We must be able to hear what the spirit of the Lord is saying. We must be open to the leading of the Holy Spirit. We must be committed to studying & meditating on the Word daily. We must be committed to the service of the Lord. We must have a whole hearted commitment.

As we continue to seek God for our heart desires this year – may God grant us the grace to have our “ears pierced” – to have a life committed to God and the things of the Kingdom.

So let’s go ahead and work on “piercing our ears” (our commitment to God) this season!

Loving Regards,Temidayo

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 8th February 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord. Praise God…Hallelujah!

Year 2011 is indeed a year filled with great blessings & promises – as we BELIEVE & DELIGHT in the Lord our heart desires will be granted unto us this year in Jesus Name!

Still looking at {E as “Expressions – Some ways by which we can to express our delight in God”} using the scripture in the book of  Psalm Chapter 40: 6a/c

6 “Sacrifice and offering You do not desire, but You have given me open ears. Burnt offering and sin offering You have not required. (NKJV)

6 You take no delight in sacrifices or offerings. Now that you have made me listen, I finally understand—you don’t require burnt offerings or sin offerings. (NLT)

In this scripture, it is not that God didn’t want David’s offering, the thing is that He wants sincere worship & obedience even more. God is not moved when we go through the motions of religious rituals. He is not pleased by the acts of the flesh – He is not pleased with any kind of ‘holier than though” attitude. He is not pleased with outward appearance.

What God wants is a desire to do His will that comes from a heart. A heart that is committed to Him is what He requires. A life that is devoted to the thing of the kingdom. A heart that is dedicated to the Word. A life that seeks to obey the counsel of God. A sincere heart that is willing to move when God say so. A life that can says if you need somebody, Lord: “Here I am send me”

As we continue to seek to delight in the Lord from a genuine heart and by walking in total obedience this season – may we experience the supernatural hand of the Lord in all that we lay our hands upon in Jesus name. Amen!

Loving Regards,

Temidayo

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 7th February 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord. Praise God…Hallelujah!

Year 2011 is indeed a year filled with great blessings & promises – as we BELIEVE & DELIGHT in the Lord our heart desires will be granted unto us this year in Jesus Name!

Still looking at {E as “Expressions – Some ways by which we can to express our delight in God”} using the scripture in the book of  Psalm Chapter 40– this time verse 6

(NLT)

The religious rituals of those days involved sacrificing animals in the tabernacle. David wants us to know that mere ceremonies are not enough. Mere external rituals do not honor the Lord. These rituals are actually meaningless unless done with the right reasons. Nowadays, we often make rituals of going to church, taking communion, or paying tithes. These activities are also empty if our reasons for doing them are selfish. God doesn’t want these sacrifices and offerings without an attitude of devotion to Him.

By David saying that the Lord does not desire “sacrifice and offering” – he means doing something for God or bringing something to him is not really what God requires. Being religious is not what God is asking for

So my dear! as we continue to think about delighting in God – let’s remind ourselves that our religious activity is not really what God is looking for. Our “holier than thou” attitude is not what God wants. Our gift and talent are not what God really demands. Our ability to fulfill religious obligations is not what God is really after. Our sanctimonious looks is not what moves God. Our outward appearance is not what God is looking at.

So my dear! As we continue to seek to delight in God – let’s remind ourselves that this is not necessarily about “religion” = our religious acts. And may God help us to live a life that is totally devoted and pleasing to God.

Have a blessed day!!

Loving Regards,Temidayo

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 3rd day of February 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord. Praise God…Hallelujah!

Year 2011 is indeed our year of great blessings & promises – as we BELIEVE & DELIGHT in the Lord our heart desires will be granted unto us this year in Jesus Name!

Let’s continue looking at {E as “Expressions – Some ways by which we can to express our delight in God”} using the scripture in the book of  Psalm Chapter 40 verse 3b:

…. Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the Lord (NLT)

…. More and more people are seeing this: they enter the mystery, abandoning themselves to God. (MSG)

…. Many shall see and fear (revere and worship) and put their trust and confident reliance in the Lord.(AMPL)

In this scripture we have seen David’s expression of his delight in God by his words, his narration, and his praise and now we see his testimonies actually made people to trust God. These testimonies are still bringing a lot of people to God even now. We see that the entire book of Psalm is full of David’s testimonies and is what a lot of songwriters are using to compose songs now. David’s testimonies highlighted in the book of Psalms is what a lot of us are using as prayer points now.

So my dear! Let’s also express our delight in God – by giving our testimonies; because our testimonies will bring people to know the Lord. Our testimonies will cause people around us to want to know and put their trust in the God we serve.  Our testimonies will draw all men to God. Our testimonies will cause people to revere and worship the One who is able to save. Our testimonies will cause men to turn from their wicked ways unto God. Our testimonies will cause the world to come to the knowledge of the saving grace of God.

Enjoy a gr8 testimony time!!

Loving Regards,

Temidayo

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 2nd day of February 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord. Praise God…Hallelujah!

As we BELIEVE & DELIGHT in the Lord this year, our heart desires will be granted unto us in Jesus Name! We want to continue looking at the E in D.E.L.I.G.H.T as {Expression – Some ways by which we can to express our delight in God} using the scripture in the book of Psalm Chapter 40 – verse 3a says:

He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God… (NLT)

He taught me how to sing the latest God-song, a praise-song to our God… (MSG)

And He has put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God…. (AMPL)

True delight will always express itself in praise. As we see here that David was delivered out of the miry clay and his response was to sing a new song of praise to the One who delivered Him. It is natural for us as human beings to praise the things we delight in. We praise our children, we praise our favorite sports team, we praise a good meal, we praise favorable weather, we praise people who have been good to us etc. In the same way, if we say we delight in God then we must take time to praise God. We must praise the Holy Name of the Lord. We must praise the One who has delivered from the hand of the enemy. We must praise the One who heard our cry when we called unto Him. We must adore the One who has saved us from our sins. We must worship the One loves us so much to die for us. We must praise the King of king and Lord of lords.

As we continue in this new month – let’s make sure we express our delight in God by taking time to sing a new song unto the Lord every new day.

My dear! Go ahead and give God praise right now!!

Loving Regards,

Temidayo

Hey Dear,

Happy New February! May this new month bring us great blessings, new doors of opportunity, spiritual lifting, divine breakthrough, etc. in Jesus’ Name. Amen!

Thank God for the 1st day February 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new month by rejoicing in the Lord. Praise God…Hallelujah!

As we BELIEVE & DELIGHT in the Lord this new month, May our heart desires be granted unto us in Jesus Name!

We want to continue looking at the E in D.E.L.I.G.H.T as {Expression – Some ways by which we can to express our delight in God} using the scripture in the book of Psalm Chapter 40 – verse 2 says:

He lifted me out of the ditch, pulled me from deep mud. He stood me up on a solid rock to make sure I wouldn’t slip. (MSG)

He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along. (NLT)

He drew me up out of a horrible pit [a pit of tumult and of destruction], out of the miry clay (froth and slime), and set my feet upon a rock, steadying my steps and establishing my goings. (AMPL)

In this scripture we see David narrating all that God has done for him.

  • David spoke of God’s ability to deliver. He spoke of God lifting him up from the miry clay – pit of despair. He spoke of God mighty hand that is able to save. He spoke of God’s ability to deliver him from the hands of the enemy.
  • David spoke of God’s ability to establish. He spoke of God setting his feet on a solid rock. He spoke of God establishing his going out and coming in. He s 6, we said God is not really after “religion = our religious acts”. Then the question is: what is it then that God requires? What do we need to do to express our delight in the Lord?
