Hey Dear, TGIFriday!

Thank God for the 27th day of May 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord for His faithfulness. Praise God…Hallelujah!

Still looking at the I in D.E.L.I.G.H.T – {Influence in relation to delighting in God} – for us to delight in God we must be “under the influence” of the Holy Spirit. We must make a decision to allow the Holy Spirit to control our actions.

Be blessed as you listen to the lyrics of the song: “There Is None Like You” by Stephen Hurd – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhJM19ljgOo

My dear! Let’s go into the weekend with joy knowing that: There is none like our God — No one can touch our life like the Lord. No one can change our life like God. No one can influence us like the Lord. So let’s take time to ascribe all the glory to the King of kings and the Lord of lords because, there is indeed nobody like Our God!! There is no one like Jehovah!! THeReIsNoNeLiKeYoU!!

Have a memorable weekend!

Under the influence – “Confession”

Hey Dear,

Thank God for Thursday, the 26th day of May 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord for His faithfulness. Praise God…Hallelujah!

As we continue with the I in D.E.L.I.G.H.T – {Influence in relation to delighting in God} – let’s look further at Zechariah – John the Baptist’s father in Luke 1.

In the latter part of this chapter (in vs. 64, 67), And at once his mouth was opened and his tongue loosed, and he began to speak, blessing and praising and thanking God……Now Zachariah his father was filled with and controlled by the Holy Spirit and prophesied, saying…. — we were told that instantly Zechariah could speak again, and he began praising God. He was then filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied. This means, when Zechariah was filled and controlled by the Holy Spirit, then he began to make some confessions and decreed the prophetic words recorded in verse 68 to 79.

My dear! The Word coming to us from this scripture is that: Under the influence of the Holy Spirit – the power for “positive’ confession is released….The power to confess the Word of God with boldness is released. Under the influence of the Holy Spirit — There is prophetic power. There is power to decree a thing and see it established. There is power to speak with authority. There is power to remember the faithfulness of God. There is power to bring God to remembrance of His covenant to us. There is power to bring life out of a dead situation. There is power to speak light into the darkness around us. There is power to tread upon serpent and scorpions (i.e dangerous situation). There is power to decree that: ”no weapon of the enemy fashioned against us shall prosper”. There is power to decree that: “nothing shall be impossible with God”. There is power to decree: “peace be still’ to those storms in our life. There’s power to decree that: “we are more than conqueror through Christ…”. There is power to decree in the name of Jesus and see what we say come to pass.

As we continue in this season — let’s seek to be under the influence of the Holy Spirit… let’s make a conscious decision to walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh… let’s allow the Holy Spirit to control our actions/ways– so that we will experience the power of confession in our life.

Have a Spirit-filled day!!

Under the influence – “Circumcision”

Hey Dear,

Thank God for Wednesday, the 25th day of May 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord for His grace & favor. Praise God…Hallelujah!

As we continue with the I in D.E.L.I.G.H.T – {Influence in relation to delighting in God} — an example of another person who was under the influence /control of the Holy Spirit is Elizabeth’s husband – Zechariah, who the angel appeared to in the early verses of Luke Chapter 1 telling him about the birth of John the Baptist. In verses 64 and 67, the scriptures says: And at once his mouth was opened and his tongue loosed, and he began to speak, blessing and praising and thanking God……Now Zachariah his father was filled with and controlled by the Holy Spirit and prophesied, saying….

We see from the beginning of the book of Luke that Zechariah had been dumb since the conception of John the Baptist. But when the 8th day (the day of circumcision) came — his mouth was opened, his tongue was loosed and he was filled with the power of the Holy Spirit.

In the old testament, circumcision was instituted by God to signify the covenant with Abraham. And circumcision of a child has been known to indicate the parents giving this child to God, which signifies that the child would be committed to serve God alone. The cutting of the foreskin of the male child illustrated they were severing his identity or relationship with the world. We see in this story it was the day that Zechariah decided he was going to give his only son to serve God (circumcise) that his voice was restored and the anointing of the Holy Spirit was released upon him.

My dear! The Word of the Lord coming to us this new day is that: Circumcision can bring the power of the Holy Spirit…. i.e. giving of everything we have to signify we are totally committed to God will bring us under the influence of the Holy Spirit. Giving of our seed to the work of the Kingdom will bring us under the influence of the Holy Spirit. Giving of our worship to the One who created all things will bring us under the influence of the Holy Spirit. Giving of our time to serve God/others will bring us under the influence of the Holy Spirit. Aligning of our way of life with the way/word of God (holiness) will bring us under the influence of the Holy Spirit. Giving of our resources, gifts & talents to the service of God will bring us under the influence of the Holy Spirit.

As we continue to seek to delight in God — let’s ask ourselves: what do I need to circumcise? what do I need to give up to show my total commitment to God?

Have a gr8 circumcision season!!

Under the influence – “Contagious”

Hey Dear,

Thank God for Tuesday, the 24th day of May 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord for His faithfulness. Praise God…Hallelujah!

As we continue with the I in D.E.L.I.G.H.T – {Influence in relation to delighting in God} – let’s look at example of another person who were under the influence /control of the Holy Spirit. Mary’s cousin: Elizabeth, who the bible records was also pregnant around the same time in Luke 1 Chapter 41 says: And it occurred that when Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with and controlled by the Holy Spirit. Here we are told that when Mary visited Elizabeth and as she greeted her, the baby in Elizabeth’s womb leaped and Elizabeth was filled with and controlled by the Holy Spirit. This means Mary’s contact with Elizabeth brought her under the influence of the Holy Spirit. And we were told she later gave birth to a great man of God (John the Baptist).

My dear! The Word of the Lord coming to us from this scripture is that: Power of the Holy Spirit is contagious. When we are under the influence of the Holy Spirit, our actions can be contagious. When we are under the influence of the Holy Spirit, there can be divine impartation. The power of the Holy Spirit can be imparted on another through prayers of those that are under the influence. The power of the Holy Spirit can be transferred through contact with people who are in a close/intimate relationship with God. The power of the Holy Spirit can be imparted through the laying on of hands by those who are anointed. The power of the Holy Spirit can be imparted by listening to the teachings of a person who is under the influence of the Holy Spirit. The power of the Holy Spirit can be transferred by spending time in fellowship with spirit-filled believers. As we continue to seek to delight in God — the questions we need to ask ourselves is that: Are we under the influence of the Holy Spirit? And if we are then — How contagious are we?

Have a gr8 ”contagious” week!

Under the influence – “Conception”

Hey Dear,

Thank God for Monday 23rd day of May 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord for His faithfulness. Praise God…Hallelujah!

As we continue with the I in D.E.L.I.G.H.T – {Influence in relation to delighting in God} — For the next couple of weeks, I want us to look at specific example of people who were under the influence/control of the Holy Spirit as recorded in the bible. The 1st person will be Mary: the biological mother of Jesus Christ our Savior — Luke Chapter 1 vs. 35 says: 35 The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the baby to be born will be holy, and he will be called the Son of God.This is the response that the Angel gave to the conversation with Mary in the preceding verses — about her conceiving and giving birth to a son. Mary was confused and wondering how she was going to be pregnant as she was a virgin…never had any intimate relationship with a man. The angel explained to her that the conception was going to be by the power of the Holy Spirit overshadowing her. And she was going to give birth to the Savior of the whole world.

My dear! The word of the of the Lord coming to us this new day is that – There’s is “conception” as we walk under the influence of the Holy Spirit…i.e. we continue to allow the Holy Spirit to control us, we will conceive (be pregnant) and bring forth a “baby” (ideas/visions/dreams). Under the influence of the Holy Spirit – there is power to create something great out of something small. Under the influence of the Holy Spirit – there is power for “witty inventions”. Under the influence of the Holy Spirit – there is power to bring life to a dead situation. Under the influence of the Holy Spirit – there is power to conceive a big tree (idea) out of a small seed (thought). Under the influence of the Holy Spirit – there is power to conceive a divine idea that will benefit our generation. Under the influence of the Holy Spirit – there is power to conceive and bring forth our destiny/purpose in life.

My prayer as we seek to delight in God is that — we will continue to allow the Holy Spirit to control our thoughts & actions in all that we do.

Enjoy your conception season!!

No other choice…but to BeLiEVe!!

Hey Dear, TGIFriday!

Thank God for the 20th day of May 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord for His faithfulness.

Be blessed as you listen to the lyrics of the song: “No other choice” by Tye Tribbett – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVZqEZflupI

My dear! Let’s go into the weekend knowing that: We have no other choice but to trust God….We have no other choice but to believe in the One who is able to guide and lead us in the path we should go… We have no other choice but to BeLiEVe the promise God has made to us.

Have a  faith-filled and victorious week.

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 19th day of May 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord for His faithfulness. Praise God…Hallelujah!

As we continue with the I in D.E.L.I.G.H.T – {Influence in relation to delighting in God} – we said for us to delight in God we must be “under the influence” of the Holy Spirit… allow the Holy Spirit to exhibit His attributes in our life.

Still looking at the Holy Spirit – influencing us as our Teacher (spiritual). Just as school teachers are known to give tests/examinations in order to assess the level of knowledge of a student; so our spiritual Teacher allows us to go through test and trials in order to see how much we know & believe the promises of God to us.

So my dear! Are you going through a test/trial? Are you getting fed up with the way things are happening around us? Have you come to a point where you want to give up? Are you at a point where you don’t even know where to turn to? Are you at a point where it seems everyone has left you? Have you come to a place where you are wondering if this situation will ever change/get better? Are you at a point where you don’t even know what to do? Are you at a point when you feel God has left you? Are you thinking life is too hard and unfair because of the way things are? Are you becoming so frustrated about life because things are not going as planned? Are you asking why, why, why? Are you wondering if life is worth all the trouble? Are you going through hard times?

The Word of encouragement to us today that: the Holy Spirit- our teacher & test-giver is with us. He is here to comfort, to strengthen and to encourage us through our tests & trials. The Holy Spirit is with us, so all we need to do is to seek His help in our difficult times. The Holy Spirit is with us to give us grace to help us in our time of need. The Holy Spirit is with us to help us to live as a world overcomer.

Be blessed as you go into this new day and my prayer today is that we will experience the power of the Holy Spirit in our situation as we cry out to Him.

Have a spirit filled day

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 18th day of May 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord for His faithfulness. Praise God…Hallelujah!

May we experience the power of the Holy Spirit in a new way this month of May in Jesus Name..Amen!  Let’s continue with the I in D.E.L.I.G.H.T – {Influence in relation to delighting in God} – as we said for us to delight in God we must be “under the influence” of the Holy Spirit… allow the Holy Spirit to exhibit His attributes in our life. Let’s look at the scripture in the book of 1st Corinthians 2 : 9 & 10 –However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”— the things God has prepared for those who love him— these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.
In this scripture, Paul is making the people of Corinth to understand that God has a purpose and great plan for them. A plan that no eye has seen. A plan that no ear has heard. A plan that no one can comprehend. A plan that can never been imagined. A plan that no man can understand. But he went on to explain that this great plan is only revealed through & by the Holy Spirit as it is the Holy Spirit who searches and digs deep into the heart of God and then brings out into the open (or reveals) to us what God has planned for us.
My dear! the word coming to us as we continue to seek to delight in the Lord is that: We should allow the Holy Spirit to teach us by revelation. The Holy Spirit searches deep into the heart of God then reveals the mind of God to us.  The Holy Spirit will reveals the divine will of God to us. The Holy Spirit will enable us to see and understand God’s perfect plan for our life. The Holy Spirit will open our spiritual eyes to see what God has in store for us as we wait on Him this year.

As we continue seek to delight in the Lord – let’s seek to develop a relationship with the Him so He will reveal the mind of God to us in Jesus name.. Amen!!

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 17th day of May 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord for His faithfulness. Praise God…Hallelujah!

May we experience God’s grace (undeserved favor) in a greater dimension, as we continue to believe and delight in the Lord this year this month of May in Jesus Name..Amen!

Let’s continue with the I in D.E.L.I.G.H.T – {Influence in relation to delighting in God} – as we said for us to delight in God we must be “under the influence” of the Holy Spirit… allow the Holy Spirit to exhibit His attributes in our life. Let’s look at the scripture in the book of Luke Chapter 12 :11 & 12: And when they bring you before the synagogues and the magistrates and the authorities, do not be anxious [beforehand] how you shall reply in defense or what you are to say. For the Holy Spirit will TEACH you in that very hour and moment what [you] ought to say (AMPL)

In this scripture, Jesus was telling the disciples that there will be a time they will be brought before the authority in order for them to defend the gospel (what they believe). But that they should not be bothered about what they will say to justify themselves when they are being questioned. Because the Holy Spirit will teach them at that very moment – what they should say.

My dear! the word coming to us as we continue to seek to delight in the Lord is that: we shouldn’t be anxious or worried about what or how we will respond in any situation because the Holy Spirit is our TEACHER.

Just like a teacher — The Holy Spirit is the One who imparts the wisdom we need in order to know what to say when we are before a panel. The Holy Spirit is the One who will instruct us on how to respond when we are in a compromising situation.. The Holy Spirit is the One who will teach us how to answer when we are being accused of what we didn’t do. The Holy Spirit is the One who will give us the right words to say — in that discussion/meeting, in that court case, to that difficult boss/colleague.. etc. The Holy Spirit is the One who will point out what we need to know and say in every situation we face.

As we continue seek to delight in the Lord – let’s be encouraged in all that we might be facing knowing that the Holy Spirit has been sent to us to teach and guide us.

Enjoy a spirit-led day/week!!

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 16th day of May 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord for His faithfulness.

Let’s look at another attribute of the Holy Spirit as highlighted in Chapter 14:26 –But the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will TEACH you ALL things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you. (AMP) — But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will be your TEACHER in all things and will put you in mind of everything I have said to you (BBE)

In this scripture, Jesus is telling His disciples that the Holy Spirit whom God the Father will send to act on His behalf will be like a teacher… to teach them ALL things. So just in case there are some things that the disciples don’t really understand in all the teaching Jesus has shared with them. The Holy Spirit was going to be there to teach and bring clarity to everything and anything they need to know about life.

My dear! The Word coming to us today is that: For us to delight in God, we must allow the Holy Spirit (the influencer) to be our TEACHER. We must allow the Holy Spirit to impart us with the wisdom to handle our situation. We must allow the Holy Spirit to point us in the direction to go. We must allow the Holy Spirit to influence our decisions. We must allow the Holy Spirit to give us divine instruction on what to do and say. We must allow the Holy Spirit to train us in the things of the Kingdom. We must allow the Holy Spirit to control our desires. We must allow the Holy Spirit to guide us into all the truth of the Word of God that we need for life.

As we continue to seek to delight in the Lord — let’s allow the “influencer” to teach us all things we need to know in order to go from one level of glory to the other this year.

Have a spirit-controlled day/week!!

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 12th day of May 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord for His faithfulness. Praise God…Hallelujah!

May we experience God’s grace (undeserved favor) in a greater dimension, as we believe and delight in the Lord this year this month of May in Jesus Name..Amen!

Let’s continue with the I in D.E.L.I.G.H.T – {Influence in relation to delighting in God} – as we said that for us to delight in God we must be “under the influence” of the Holy Spirit. Still looking at the scripture in the book of John Chapter 16:7&8 – amplified version says:  However, I am telling you nothing but the truth when I say it is profitable (good, expedient, advantageous) for you that I go away. Because if I do not go away, the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you [into close fellowship with you]; but if I go away, I will send Him to you [to be in close fellowship with you].  And when He comes, He will convict and convince the world and bring demonstration to it about SIN and about RIGHTEOUSNESS (uprightness of heart and right standing with God) and about JUDGEMENT: (AMPL)

When Jesus was about to leave the earth – He promised to send us the Holy Spirit to influence us by being our helper. In the scripture above another things that the Holy Spirit was going to help to do was convict people about righteousness.

So My dear! the Word of the Lord to us today is that: For us to delight in God we must allow the “influencer” (the Holy Spirit) to be our helper. We must allow the Holy Spirit to convict the world of righteousness. We must allow the Holy Spirit to help to convince us about uprightness of heart. We must allow the Holy Spirit to help us to know how to be in right standing with God. We must allow the help us to understand that out righteousness is like filthy rags. We must allow the Holy Spirit to assist us in knowing that our righteousness is not of ourselves but through Christ. We must allow the Holy Spirit to always remind that we are what we are only by the grace of God. We must allow the Holy Spirit to help us to

May the Holy Spirit continue to help us as we seek to delight in the Lord this season and always.

Have a blessed and highly favored day.

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 11th day of May 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord for His faithfulness. Praise God…Hallelujah!May we experience God’s grace (undeserved favor) in a greater dimension, as we believe and delight in the Lord this year this month of May in Jesus Name..Amen! (AMPL)

When Jesus was about to leave the earth — He promised to give us the Holy Spirit: our Helper. He promised to send us the Holy Spirit to influence us by being our helper. Who is a helper?

Helper is a person or thing that gives assistance and support — Helper a person who contributes to the fulfillment of a need or furtherance of an effort or purpose.

My dear! the Word of the Lord to us today is that: For us to delight in God we must allow the “influencer” (the Holy Spirit) to be our Helper. We must allow Him to help, assist and to support us as we seek to fulfill God’s purpose for our life. We must allow the influencer to help to convict the world of sin. We must allow the Holy Spirit to help to expose the error  in the way the world view sin. We must allow the Holy Spirit to help to show the world the truth about sin. We must allow the Holy Spirit to help to bring our wrong ways & thoughts to our attention. We must allow the Holy Spirit to help us as we examine ourselves at all times.

As we continue to seek to delight in God — My prayer is that we will continue to allow our the Holy Spirit to influence us in all that we do in Jesus Name.. Amen!

I-nfluence: Attributes of the “influencer”

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 10th day of May 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord for His faithfulness. Praise God…Hallelujah!May we experience God’s grace (undeserved favor) in a greater dimension, as we believe and delight in the Lord this year this month of May in Jesus Name..Amen!  Let’s continue with the I in D.E.L.I.G.H.T – {Influence in relation to delighting in God} – as we said that for us to delight in God we must be “under the influence” of the Holy Spirit. Still looking at the scripture in the book of John Chapter 16 verse 7 – amplified version says: However, I am telling you nothing but the truth when I say it is profitable (good, expedient, advantageous) for you that I go away. Because if I do not go away, the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you [into close fellowship with you]; but if I go away, I will send Him to you [to be in close fellowship with you]. (AMPL)

In this translation – The Holy Spirit is being referred to as the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener, Standby). Jesus was talking to His disciple when He was about to leave — He realized that they were sad and He had to explain to them that His departure would definitely be a benefit to them. This is because the Holy Spirit who is… the Helper, Comforter, Advocate, Strengthener, Intercessor etc… will come when Jesus has gone to be with the Father. After resurrection, we know that Jesus has gone to be with the Father. Therefore the Holy Spirit that was promised in this scripture is here with us even now. The Holy Spirit has been sent and is here with us to strengthen, comfort, help and encourage us.

My dear! The Word of the Lord coming to us today is that: For us to continue to delight in God i.e. continue to be under the influence of the Holy Spirit — we must allow the Holy Spirit to exhibit the attributes outlined in this scripture. We must allow the Holy Spirit to encourage us during those hard times. We must cry out to the Holy Spirit, the Counselor to guide us in what we need to do in that situation. We must look to the hills, to the Helper, to take us go through those hard and trying times. We must seek the Holy Spirit, the strengthener, when it seems we are starting to get weary in doing good. We must allow the Holy Spirit to comfort us when we feel hurt or lost a loved one. We must allow the Holy Spirit, the Advocate to defend us this court of “life” that we find ourselves. We must the Holy Spirit to intercede on our behalf with groaning too deep for our words to express.

As seek to delight in the Lord this month of May – let’s take time to draw close and allow the Holy Spirit to express His divine attributes in our life at all times.

I-nfluence — Befriend HIM

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 9th day of May 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord for His faithfulness. Praise God…Hallelujah!

May we experience God’s grace (undeserved favor) in a greater dimension, as we believe and delight in the Lord this year this month of May in Jesus Name..Amen!

Let’s continue with the I in D.E.L.I.G.H.T – {Influence in relation to delighting in God} – we said last week that for us to delight in God we must be “under the influence” of the Holy Spirit. I want us to spend some time looking at some of the things that we can do in order to ensure that we continue to be under the influence of the Holy Spirit.

The 1st scripture that comes to mind is in the book of John Chapter 16 verse 7: So let me say it again, this truth: It’s better for you that I leave. If I don’t leave, the FRIEND won’t come. But if I go, I’ll send Him (the FRIEND) to you (MSG)

In this translation of the scripture — Jesus was telling His disciples when He was about to go back to His Father (God) that it was necessary for Him to go, and He told them the benefits of Him leaving them. He said He had to go so that He can send “the Friend”: the Holy Spirit to them. So Jesus had to leave so that we can come into close fellowship or relationship with the Holy Spirit, the Friend who is able to ensure that we continue to remain under the influence.

My dear! the Word of God to us today is that: For us to continue to delight in God i.e. continue to be under the influence of the Holy Spirit then we must befriend the Holy Spirit. We must embrace the friendship of the Holy Spirit so that we can walk in the divine will/plan/purpose of God for our life. We must befriend the Holy Spirit so that we will not walk in the flesh. We must befriend the Holy Spirit so that we can live a life that is pleasing to God. We must befriend the Holy Spirit so that we can continue to be spiritual-minded.

Let’s always remember that we have a Friend who is able to help us to be spiritual-minded i.e. continue “under the influence”… so let’s go ahead make the Holy Spirit our companion 2day.

Have a great week!

Loving Regards,

Temidayo

Hey Dear,Thank God for the 6th day of May 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord for His faithfulness. Praise God…Hallelujah!May we experience God’s grace (undeserved favor) in a greater dimension, as we believe and delight in the Lord this year this month of May in Jesus Name..Amen!  As we continue looking at the I in D.E.L.I.G.H.T – {Influence in relation to delighting in God} – the phrase that comes to mind is “under the influence” i.e. driving under the influence (DUI). Be blessed as you listen to the lyrics of the song “Under the influence”  by Anointed — http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r7itrewhuUE.

I-nfluence: Spiritual-minded

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 5th day of May 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord for His faithfulness. The scripture in the book of John chapter 4 verse 24 says: God is a Spirit (a spiritual Being) and those who worship Him must worship Him in “spirit and in truth”(reality) (AMP) —  Your worship must engage your spirit in the pursuit of truth  (MSG) The scripture says: God is Spirit and anyone who will worship Him must worship in Spirit and truth. The word “MUST” here expresses — “an obligation, a requirement, a necessity, a certainty, and something that must be done”. When “must” is used it means that it is not optional. The only way we can walk with God and be acceptable to Him is when we walk and live by the Spirit.

So we can interpret this scripture as saying: God is Spirit so anyone who will delight in God i.e. be “under the influence” of the Holy Spirit MUST be spiritual-minded. Spiritual-minded means – Having the mind set on spiritual things, or filled with holy desires and affections.

My dear! The Word of God coming to us today is that: For us to delight in God i.e. be “under the influence” of the Holy Spirit — We must strive (daily) to do everything by the leading of the Holy Spirit. We must set our hearts on things above (heavenly things). We must strive not to walk according to the dictates of the flesh. We must make a decision to walk by faith and not by sight. We must lay aside every sin that so easily comes upon our flesh. We must take a stand to live by the Spirit of God. We must make a decision to be Spiritual-minded in everything we do.

Remain blessed as you go into this new day — may God grant us the grace and power that we need to be spiritual-minded.

Enjoy a Spirit-filled day!

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 4th day of May 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord for His faithfulness. Praise God…Hallelujah!

As we continue to believe and delight in the Lord this year – may we experience the God’s grace (undeserved favor) in a greater dimension this month of May in Jesus Name..Amen!

Looking at the I in D.E.L.I.G.H.T – {Influence in relation to delighting in God} – the phrase that comes to mind is “under the influence” i.e. driving under the influence (DUI).

As we continue to look at this theme, let’s ask ourselves questions like – What are we D.U.I of? What are we allowing to influence us on this journey of life? What should actually be influencing us on our journey of life?

Let’s look at the scripture in the book of Galatians 5:16 says: But I say, walk and live [habitually] in the [Holy] Spirit [responsive to and controlled and guided by the Spirit]; then you will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh (of human nature without God). (AMP)
In this scripture, Apostle Paul is admonishing the people of Galatia to endeavor to live by the spirit so that they will be able to overcome the desires that the flesh brings their way. He was telling them to endeavor to be under the control of the Spirit so that they will not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

The Word of the Lord coming to you and I today is that: For us to be able to delight in the Lord  — we must be under the influence of the Holy Spirit. We must be intoxicated by the power of the Holy Spirit. We must allow the power of the Holy Spirit to control our life. We must allow the Holy Spirit to guide & lead us in the decision we make. We must allow the Holy Spirit to rule every area of our life.. We must be under the authority of the Triune God.

My dear! For us to fulfill the condition in Psal 37:4 (delight in God), we must be under the influence of the Holy Spirit. May God help us as we seek to walk & live by the Holy Spirit.

Enjoy a Spirit led day!

Loving regards,

Temidayo

I-nfluence: DUI or DWI?

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 3rd day of May 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord for His faithfulness. Praise God…Hallelujah!

Since the beginning of the year – we have been trying to understand what it means to: Delight in the Lord i.e. what we need to do in order to fulfill this condition that is linked to the promise in Psalm 37:4 – “Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.”. So far we have looked at D.E.L.I.G.H.T under the following categories: Decrees, Expressions and Love…the next category is “Influence” – how it relates to delighting in God.

Let’s start by understanding what influence means? Dict. Meaning of Influence- to persuade or induce; ability to alter or sway an individual’s or a group’s thoughts & beliefs; the process of producing effects on the actions, behavior and opinions, of another person; to move or impel (a person) to some action etc

When I hear someone say the word “influence” – phrase that comes to mind is “under the influence”…. and terms like driving under the influence (DUI) and driving while intoxicated (DWI) are common phrases used to represent the criminal offense of operating a motor vehicle while being under the influence of alcohol or drugs or a combination of both.

In light of these definitions – I want us to ask ourselves some question: Are we “driving under the influence”? Are we “driving while intoxicated”? Are we driving through this journey of life “drunk/intoxicated”? What is compelling us to take do the things we do? What is controlling our actions/thoughts/behavior? What is influencing us on this journey of life?….etcetera.

Over the next couple of weeks – we will try to answer some of these “influence” questions as it relates to delighting in God.

As we continue in this season — May we experience the grace and favor of God each new day of this new month of May.

Happy New MAY!!

Hey Dear,

Happy New Month!! Happy New MAY!!

Thank God for the 2nd day of May 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord for His faithfulness. Praise God…Hallelujah! As this is the 5th month of the year and “5” being the number of GRACE – May we experience the God’s grace (undeserved favor) in a greater dimension this month of May in Jesus Name..Amen!  The bible says in Psalm 102: 13 — You will arise and have mercy on Zion; For the time to FAVOUR her,  Yes ,the set time (designated moment), has come (AMPL)  — You’ll get up from your throne and help Zion– it’s time for compassionate help. (MSG) — You will arise and have mercy on Jerusalem– and now is the time to pity her, now is the time you promised to help. (NLT) — You will show pity to Zion,  because the time has come. (CEV) The Word of the Lord coming to you & I this new month is that: Now is the set time for God’s favor …  this month of MAY is the set time!!

So MAY! Hear the Word of the Lord today as we decree in the Name of Jesus — This is our season of divine favor. This is the set time for God’s abundance. The promises of God to us is coming to pass this month. We are breaking forth this month. We decree divine breakthrough into our life this month. We will fulfill the purpose of God for our life this month. We declare that as each day breaks, the earth will yield its increase unto us. We declare that our time of help is now. We decree that our lines have fallen unto us in pleasant places this month. We decree that we are going to our wealthy place this month. We decree that the wealth of the Gentiles is ours this season in Jesus Name. We call forth those things that be not as though they are…this month. We subdue every plan of the enemy over our life this month. We take dominion-authority over each day of this month. We decree that we are moving forward – we are moving to the place of our destiny this month…in Jesus Name we pray. Amen!

My dear! MAY is the set time…. use your mouth to decree those things that be not as though they are – then delight, believe and be EXPECTANT!!

Have a favor/grace-filled month!

Decree in the Name of the Risen One…

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 28th day of April 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord for His faithfulness. Praise God…Hallelujah!

As we continue to understand the L in D.E.L.I.G.H.T – {LOVE as it relates to delighting in God} — today is a another day to remember the sincere, unconditional, sacrificial agape love of the Lover of our soul to us. The scripture in the book of Luke 24: 1-7 says: Very early on the first day of the week, at dawn, the women came to the tomb, bringing the spices they had prepared. They found that the STONE HAS BEEN ROLLED AWAY from the entrance. but when they went in, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, two men in shining clothes suddenly stood beside them. The women were very afraid and bowed their heads to the ground. The men said to them, “Why are you looking for a living person in this place for the dead?  He is not here; HE IS RISEN FROM THE DEAD!

Another thing that comes to mind as we continue to look at this scripture in light of the season of resurrection is that: We have authority after resurrection – We have the authority to decree  in the Name of the Risen One… and it shall come to pass. You and I have the authority to tread upon anything in the Name of the Risen One and they shall not hurt us. We have the power to speak to any situation in the Name of the Risen One and it will be well.

Therefore, today by the authority we have in the Name of the Risen One = JESUS CHRIST – We decree that every situation that looks dead around us come alive now by the power of resurrection. We declare that every hopeless situation comes to life by the resurrection power. We decree that every dead financial situation receive life right now in Jesus Name. We declare that every business proposal and ideas that has been buried will come back to life by the reason of the anointing. We declare that every home/ministry/marriage going through problems receive life in Jesus Name. We decree that we are loosed from any form of bondage, by the power of the resurrection in Jesus Name. We decree life to every dead situation right now in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen. We declare that signs and wonders will follow every declaration we make this season in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen!!

As we continue in this season, let’s continue to declare our freedom by the authority which has been bestowed upon us through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Loving Regards,

Temidayo

Fix Your Eyes on The Risen One….

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 27th day of April 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord for His faithfulness.

The scripture (vs. 6). here says: The women who went looking for Jesus in the tomb were asked: Why they were looking for a living person in a cemetery? Why they looking for the risen One in the place where dead people live? I guess these women were just so overwhelmed with the large stone that had been rolled away that they didn’t even remember the promise of resurrection after 3 days. They just did the normal thing anyone will do — looking for the Jesus in the tomb. They were looking for the Savior in the wrong place. They were puzzled and terrified and were looking for the One who God has promised to save the whole world in the wrong place. In the same way, we also can sometimes find ourselves looking for our solution in the wrong place because of the magnitude of the problem we seem to be faced with. We can find ourselves looking in the wrong direction for the help that God has promised us, because we don’t seem to understand what is happening. We can find ourselves seeking counsel from the wrong person, because of the pressure of what we are going through. We can sometimes find ourselves seeking the fulfillment of the promise of God in the wrong way. We can sometimes find ourselves looking for help from the wrong places.

My dear! As we continue in this season of resurrection – let take our eyes off those problems and look to the hill where our help comes from. Let’s take our mind off those things that make us weary/anxious but fix our thought on those things which are excellent and praiseworthy (Phil 4:8). Let’s get rid of those things that easily weigh us down and fix our eyes on the Risen One: the author and perfecter of our faith (Heb 12:1-3)

As we fix our eyes on the Risen One… may we experience the power of resurrection in a greater dimension in every area of our life this season in Jesus name. Amen!!

Every Stone Has Deen Rolled Away…!!

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 26th day of April 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord for His faithfulness. Praise God…Hallelujah!

As we continue to understand the L in D.E.L.I.G.H.T {LOVE as it relates to delighting in God} — today is a another day to remember the sincere, unconditional, sacrificial agape love of the Lover of our soul to us. May we experience the love of God in a greater dimension this season in Jesus Name.. Amen!

The scripture in the book of Mark 16 : 1-4 says:  When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus’ body. 2 Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb 3 and they asked each other, “Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?” 4 But when they looked up, they saw that the STONE, which was very LARGE, HAD BEEN ROLLED AWAY.

The scripture says here that the stone has been rolled away…the large stone that was used to close the entrance of the tomb where Jesus was laid has been rolled away. The stone can be said to symbolize – a restriction, hindrance, a form of bondage, the limitation of freedom etc. As the stone at the entrance of the tomb has been rolled away so also every stone in the path of our destiny has been rolled away.

My dear! As we continue in this season of resurrection — the Word coming to us today is that: Every stone in our life have been rolled away. The stone of doubt has been rolled away. The stone of despair has been rolled away. The stone of defeat has been rolled away. The stone of failure has been rolled away. The stone of delay has been rolled away. The stone of poverty has been rolled away. The stone of misfortune has been rolled away. The stone of infirmity has been rolled away. The stone of wrong connection has been rolled away. The stone of stagnancy has been rolled away. The stone of sorrow has been rolled away. The stone of death has been rolled away.

As we continue in this season of Easter, let’s continue to declare that “every stone is rolled away” by the authority which has been bestowed upon us through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Enjoy a victorious day!!

Loving Regards,

Temiday

B’cos He is Risen…

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 25th day of April 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord for His faithfulness.

Remember what he told you back in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be betrayed into the hands of sinful men and be crucified, and that he would rise again on the third day.”

The stone has been rolled away….the Lover of our soul is not longer in the grave — He is risen…Jesus is risen…He is alive forevermore!!!

My dear! Let’s be encouraged this new day – Because Jesus is risen, we can face tomorrow. Because the King of kings is risen, all fear is gone. Because He is risen, our future is certain. Because our Savior is risen, life is worth living. Because Jesus is risen, we can overcome every trouble, trials, challenges on our way. Because our Redeemer lives, we are more than conquerors. Because He is risen, we are victorious. Because He lives, we are no longer slaves to sin. Because our Master is risen, the sting of death is gone. Because He lives, we have life abundant. Because Jesus is risen, we have eternal life.
Be blessed as you continue in this great day – Jesus is risen! Jesus is alive forever! The sting of death/depression/sorrow is gone forever!

L-OVE: The Cross = Perfect act of Love!!

Hey Dear,

TGIFriday… Good Friday!

Thank God for the 22nd day of April 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord for His faithfulness. Praise God…Hallelujah!

As we continue to understand the L in D.E.L.I.G.H.T – {LOVE as it relates to delighting in God} — today (Good Friday) is a good day to remind ourselves of the sincere, unconditional, sacrificial agape love of God to us. Let’s look at the scripture in the book of Luke 23:34 — Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing. And they divided up his clothes by casting lots (NIV) — Jesus prayed, “Father, forgive them; they don’t know what they’re doing.” Dividing up his clothes, they threw dice for them (MSG)

This scripture is Jesus response to the treatment He received from the hands of those who were nailing Him to the Cross. Jesus asked God to forgive the people who were putting him to death on the Cross. He asked God to have mercy on the Jewish leaders, Romans politicians and soldiers, bystanders who were mocking him — because they do not know what they were doing.

My dear! Jesus was suffering the most horrible, painful death ever devised by sinful man and he looked at the people responsible for His suffering and prayed for their forgiveness. And God answered that prayer by opening up the way of salvation & deliverance to the whole world through Jesus’ crucifixion, death & resurrection. What a perfect act of love!!

The Word coming to us today is that: “The Cross of Calvary” is the perfect act of love!! The response of Jesus to the mocking, suffering, crucifixion and death that He received in the hands of people is a perfect expression of sincere love – the love God expect us to show to our neighbors.

As we continue in this season of Easter – let’s take time to give thanks for the agape love that God bestowed upon us by giving His one and only begotten God to die for us.

Have a “good” Friday and a glorious Easter!!

Loving Regards,

Temidayo

L-OVE: Cling to What is Good

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 21st day of April 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord for His faithfulness. Praise God…Hallelujah!

As we seek to DELIGHT ourselves in the Lord this month of April – may the heavens be opened upon us & may we be deeply rooted in the love of God this new month in Jesus name. Amen!

As we continue to understand the L in D.E.L.I.G.H.T – {LOVE as it relates to delighting in God}, I want us to take a look at the scripture in the book of Romans 12 vs. 9: Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. (NIV) —  Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. (NLT)

In the 3rd part of the scripture, Paul went on to explain that a person who really loves sincerely will “cling to what is good”. The One that loves sincerely will cleave to the right things. The person who loves sincerely will be attached to godly things. The person who really loves from the heart will be devoted to the things that are right in the eyes of God. The person who really loves sincerely will attracted to those things which God takes pleasure in.

The Word coming to us today is that – as we seek to love as God expects, we must cling to good! We must be attracted to doing good. We must be devoted to expressing the acts of the fruit of the spirit:…love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control…” (Gal 5:22,23)

My dear! As we continue in this season, let’s be reminded that a person walking in sincere love should be attracted to and practice those things that are right, holy, good and eternally valuable. May God help us in Jesus name. Amen!!

Have an awesome “good clinging” dayJ!!

Loving Regards,

Temidayo

L-OVE: Hate what is evil

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 20th day of April 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord for His faithfulness.

(NLT)

In the 2nd part of the scripture, Paul went on to explain that a person who really loves sincerely will “hate what is evil” So the word of the Lord to us today is that: sincere love must hate what is wrong. Sincere love will loathe ungodliness. Sincere love will turn from all forms of wickedness. Sincere love will despise the “acts of sin”; some of which are highlighted in the book of Roman 1–  sexual immorality, greed, depravity, envy, murder, strife, deceit, slander, arrogance, boasting, inventing ways of doing evil, disobedient to parents, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, backstabbing, gossiping etc. So if we truly love sincerely, the thought of these behaviors will be personally repulsive to us.

My dear! As children of God, in order for us to express sincere love to God and to others — we must hate evil passionately i.e. we must detest all forms of wickedness and acts of sin! May God help us as we go through each day.

Enjoy a gr8 “hate evil” day”

Loving Regards,

Temidayo

L-OVE: Bust Be Sincere!!

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 19th day of April 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord for His faithfulness.

(NIV) — [Let your] love be sincere [a real thing] (AMPL)

In the 1st part of the scripture, Paul is telling us that the love that God expect us to share with our neighbors must be “sincere”….love must be from our heart.

My dear! The Word coming to you and I today is that: We are to love “for real”… from our inner being – no pretence. The love we profess to our neighbor must be sincere, free from deceit. The love we are expected to express to our neighbors must be real. The love we are to show our neighbors must be genuine from our heart. The love we are expected to practice must be without hypocrisy. The love we are expected to share with our neighbors must be unadulterated. The love we are expected to share with our neighbors must from a pure heart.

As we continue to seek to delight in the Lord at all times – may God grant us the grace to love our neighbor as ourselves and with a genuine and sincere heart.

Have a glorious LOVE_ing day!!

Loving Regards,

Temidayo

L-OVE: Samaritan’s Act of Mercy #4 – Give ur Resources!

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 18th day of April 2011 – a month & day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord for who He is. Praise God…Hallelujah!

As we continue to DELIGHT in the Lord this new month of April – may the heavens be opened upon us & may we be deeply rooted in the love of God this new month in Jesus name. Amen!

Still using the story of good Samaritan Luke Chapter 10  to understand the L in D.E.L.I.G.H.T – {LOVE as it relates to delighting in God}. I want us to take some time to look at some act of mercy that the Samaritan showed in this story as it relates to how we are expected to express love (agápē, αγάπη) to our neighbors.

The 4th act of mercy is found in verse 35 – 35 The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have(NIV)

The scripture says here that the Samaritan gave the innkeeper two silver coins (Roman denarii) as a deposit to ensure that the wounded man is taken care of. One Roman denarii is equivalent to be the average pay for one day’s work. The Samaritan gave of his “sweat” – he gave 2 days of his wages to cover the cost of the wounded man.

My dear! The Word of the Lord to you and I today is that for us to be able to express love as we should – we must be ready to give our resources. We must be able to give of our finances to assist those in need.  We must be ready to give our material possessions to those who are not able to afford. We must be ready to give our spiritual gift to serve others in our local church. We must be ready to give of our talent to help those in need. We must be ready to give our resources to assist those who have been affected by one kind of natural disaster or another.

As we continue to seek to love our neighbor as ourselves this season – May God continue to grant us the grace we need in order to share our resources – in cash and kind, with those who are in need.

Have a gr8 giving day!

Loving Regards,

Temiday

L-OVE: Lettherebeloveshared….

Thank God for letting us see the 15th day of April 2011 – a day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord for who He is. Praise God…Hallelujah!

May the agape love of God be shared among us.

Enjoy a great “love sharing” day & weekend!

L-OVE: Samaritan’s Act of Mercy #3 – “Soothe the Wound..”!

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 14th day of April 2011 – a month & day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord for who He is.

The 3rd act of mercy is found in verse 34 – Going over to him, the Samaritan soothed his wounds with olive oil and wine and bandaged them. Then he put the man on his own donkey and took him to an inn, where he took care of him (NLT)

The scripture says here that the Samaritan soothed/treated the man’s wound i.e. he bought some comfort/relieve to the man’s pain. He treated the man by applying olive oil, wine and bandaging the wound. In New Testament times, the oil and wine were used like medicine to soften and clean wounds – with the expectation of bringing healing to the wound.

My dear! The Word to us today is that for us to be able to express love as we should  – we must be ready to “soothe the wound”. We must be ready to “soothe the wound” using the different options available to us. We must be able to apply olive oil to the soothe the wounds of other – by creating an atmosphere/aroma of God’s presence around us. We must be able to apply wine to soften the heart of men – by bringing joy through the things we do. We must be able to bring relieve to people’s emotional hurt – by the word of encouragement we speak to them. We must be able to refresh those who are in need by bandaging their wounds with our resources (money/material/prayers/words).

As we continue to seek to delight in God by loving others as ourselves – may we receive the grace that we need in order to “soothe the wounds” of others in Jesus name. Amen!

Enjoy a gr8 soothing day!

L-OVE: Samaritan’s Act of Mercy #2 – Take Action…Go Out!

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 13th day of April 2011 – a month & day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord for who He is.

The 2nd act of mercy is found in verse 34a – Going over to him, the Samaritan soothed his wounds with olive oil and wine and bandaged them (NLT) — The Samaritan went to him, poured olive oil and wine on his wounds, and bandaged them (NCV). Here the scripture says: The Samaritan went over to him… this means he didn’t just see him and have compassion for him but he went over to where the man was and gave him some 1st aid treatment. The Samaritan was able to express his love and compassion when he went over to touch the man physically.. he took some actions!

My dear! The Word to us today is that – for us to be able to express love to our neighbors as we should, we must go out to the people and actually take some actions. We can look at taking action in 2 ways:

·         Take action by going out and looking for people who are in need – We can get this information by listening to news, from local church mission work, surfing the internet, supporting outreach ministries, checking the neighborhood around us. Then we can now go out and be a blessing with our resources.·         Take action by going out of our comfort zone to help someone – We must not just identify with the people in our inner circle but go out of our way. We must do some unusual things… things that we’ll not normally do. We must take our eyes off our “core” i.e. ourselves/immediate family/close friends etc, but look at the world at large. As we continue in this season of love – may God grant us the grace to take action as we seek to express the agape love of God to those who have been wounded on this journey of life.

Have a action (love) packed day/week/monthJ!

Loving Regards,

Temidayo

L-OVE: Samaritan’s Act of Mercy #1 – Be Compassionate!!

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 12th day of April 2011 – a month & day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord for who He is.

The 1st act of mercy is found in verse 33 – “Then a despised Samaritan came along, and when he saw the man, he felt compassion for him (NLT). A Samaritan traveling the road came on him. When he saw the man’s condition, his heart went out to him (MSG). The bible records here that as soon as the Samaritan saw the condition of the wounded man… his heart went out to him and he had compassion on him.

Compassion (dict meaning): is a feeling of deep sympathy and sorrow for another who is stricken by misfortune and this feeling is usually accompanied by a strong desire to alleviate the suffering.

My dear! The Word coming to us today is that for us to be able to express the love of God to those around us as we should – we must have compassion. We must develop deep sympathy for those who are in need around us. We must put ourselves in the shoes of the needy people in our world. We must develop a desire to reach out to the lost souls. We must have pity on those who are going through difficult times around us. We must have a strong desire to help those who have been wounded on this journey of life.We must be able to identify with the conditions of the people around us. We must have a tender heart towards those that have been robbed by the one who came to kill, steal & destroy.

May God help us as we make a conscious effort to develop compassion for those who are in need because they have been wounded in this journey of life.

Have a compassionate day!!

Loving Regards,

Temidayo

L-OVE: Go and Do Likewise!

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 11th day of April 2011 – a month & day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord for who He is. Praise God…Hallelujah!

As we seek to DELIGHT in the Lord this new month of April – may the heavens be opened upon us & may we be deeply rooted in the love of God this new month in Jesus name. Amen!

Still using the story of good Samaritan in Luke Chapter 10  to understand the L in D.E.L.I.G.H.T – {LOVE as it relates to delighting in God}. The discussion between Jesus and the religious law expert continued in verse 36 & 37 – “Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?” The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.” Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”

After all the talks about: the wounded man, Jewish priest, Temple servant & the Samaritan man – Jesus then asked the expert who he thinks is the wounded man’s neighbor from this story. The religious expert may have been reluctant to even call him a Samaritan as he said: “The one who showed him mercy”. And Jesus response to him was – now that you have seen and understand this then: “You, Go and do likewise”.

My dear! The Word of Jesus to the religious expert is what God is saying to you and I today – Now, Go and do the same! Go and do exactly the same thing that the Samaritan did. Go and express love to the “strangers” in your world. Go and do what you understand from this story. Go and act on the Word you have been taught. Go and do what the Word teaches about love. Go and show forth the Samaritan’s acts of mercy. Go and do as likewise!!

As we continue in this month of April – may the gift of love in our heart be stirred up so that we can indeed go and do likewise!!

Have a LOVE-filled day!!

Loving Regards,

Temidayo

L-OVE: Samaritan Love #3

Hey Dear,

Thank God for the 7th day of April 2011 – a month & day that the Lord has made so let’s begin this new day by rejoicing in the Lord for who He is. Praise God…Hallelujah!

As we continue to BELIEVE & DELIGHT in the Lord this new month of April – may the heavens be opened upon us & may we be deeply rooted in the love of God this new month in Jesus name. Amen!

Still looking at the L in D.E.L.I.G.H.T – {LOVE as it relates to delighting in God}. God’s kind of love (agápē, αγάπη) which we must express others. Today let’s look at verse 33 & 34 of Luke Chapter 10 (story of good Samaritan)  –“33 Then a despised Samaritan came along, and when he saw the man, he felt compassion for him. 34 Going over to him, the Samaritan soothed his wounds with olive oil and wine and bandaged them. Then he put the man on his own donkey and took him to an inn, where he took care of him. This portion of scripture records that a “despised” Samaritan had compassion on the wounded man as he came along the road – he went over to the wounded Jewish man and took care of him.

Few points to note from this story:

·         A Samaritan man was the one that had pity & compassion on the wounded man – Samaritans are people from Samaria. These people were part Jewish, but the Jews did not accept them as true Jews. And it’s also believed that Samaritans and Jews disliked each other.·         A Samaritan man was the one that gave him first aid, disinfected and bandaged the man’s wounds- the Jewish man was slighted by his fellow Jews. He was abandoned by those who should be his friends i.e. family, fellow believers, work colleagues but was cared for by a stranger. So as we go through this journey of life, let’s be sensitive to those “strangers” that God has brought our way to help us.

·         A Samaritan man put him on his own donkey – even though the Jews considered the Samaritans to be ceremonially unclean and socially outcast, but the Samaritan didn’t allow other people’s view about him and his culture to stop him from helping the wounded man. As we go through this journey of life, let be careful not to judge people based on their physical appearance i.e. color, culture, race because we might miss the “stranger” whom God has assigned to us.

·         A “despised” Samaritan man was the one that took the wounded man to a place (an inn) to be made comfortable and cared for – the wounded man was cared for by a Samaritan who is from the nation which the Jews despised and detested, and would have no dealings with. As we go through life, let’s be careful not to allow what we have heard about someone or group of people to cloud the way we see them. Because we might end up missing a God ordained assistance.

My dear! As we continue on this journey of life – May our eyes be opened to see the “stranger(s)” God has sent our way to lead us to our destination. May we be sensitive in the Holy Spirit so that we can identify our helper(s) of destiny.
