Mitt Romney, in his first trip abroad as the presumptive GOP presidential nominee, is trying to walk back comments he made questioning London’s Olympics preparation — comments that have drawn a sharp response from Prime Minister David Cameron.
The dustup began Wednesday, as Romney, who ran the 2002 Salt Lake City games, said there were “disconcerting” signs in the days before this year’s games.
“The stories about the private security firm not having enough people, the supposed strike of the immigration and customs officials — that obviously is not something which is encouraging,” he told NBC News.
“Do they come together and celebrate the Olympic moment? And that’s something which we only find out once the games actually begin,” he said.
Cameron soon rebuked Romney. “We are holding an Olympic Games in one of the busiest, most active, bustling cities anywhere in the world. Of course, it’s easier if you hold an Olympic Games in the middle of nowhere,” he said.
“I think we will show the whole world not just that we come together as a United Kingdom, but also we’re extremely good at welcoming people from across the world,” Cameron added. “I will obviously make those points to Mitt Romney. I look forward to meeting him.” Continue reading “David Cameron Rebukes Mitt Romney After London Olympic Gaffe” »

A Circuit Court has discharged 13 students of the University of Ghana who were accused of sexually assaulting a lady on campus.
The suspects were discharged for want of prosecution.
Early last year, some students of the University were captured on video manhandling a lady they accused of stealing a laptop and a mobile phone.
They stripped her naked and inserted their fingers into her private parts as she tried in vain to stop the assault.
The lady named only as Amina was rescued by one security officer at the university.
Thirteen students were arrested and sent to court on charges of assault and unlawful harm.
Counsel for the accused Rockson Dafiamekpor told Joy News after almost 16 months the prosecution had failed to make a case against his clients.

All 13 male students of the University of Ghana who were accused of inserting their fingers into the private part of an alleged female thief have been discharged.
The students who were charged on three counts of conspiracy to commit crime, assault and causing unlawful harm were discharged on Tuesday by an Accra Circuit court.
Lawyer for the 13, Rockson Dafiamekpor told Accra based Joy Fm that the discharge of his clients was in order because although they were charged with conspiracy to commit crime “no specific crime was specified.”
“We are saying since March last year when this matter broke, we are in July 2012, this is about 15 or 16 months and prosecution has failed to initiate any proceedings in this matter, its always been adjournment one after the other.
There are rumors that the bubbly actress had a baby at an early age and left it in an orphanage. The reports also claimed she had in the past had sexual relationship with soccer star Stephen Appiah, actor cum presenter Chris Attoh and musician Screw Face.
But Lydia said she had never met Stephen Appiah or Screw Face and described Chris as a harmless ‘brother’.
When News-One first contacted her Sunday, the ‘Phone Swap’ actress grudgingly addressed the reports but she decided to address them because certain people and a section of the media had started taking advantage of the rumors.
She said none of the rumors were true and challenged those spreading them to come out with a proof. “I don’t have a baby, if I did, I’d be more than proud to show him or her off. I’ve never met Stephen Appiah or Screw Face before. And Chris Attoh is like a brother,” she emphasized. Continue reading “Lydia Forson Says She Doesn’t Have a Baby” »

Speaking with Jenna Bush Hager, his granddaughter, on the TODAY show, Bush revealed his shocking indifference to the Canadian pop icon.
“Is that his song?” he asked the younger Bush after she sang the chorus of “Baby.” The former president then added, “I don’t think I’d like it.”
The blasphemy of that statement aside, Bush does have one thing in common with Bieber: a preference for colorful socks. “Bieb?” the 41st president said when confronted with evidence of sartorial similarities between himself and the 18-year-old singer. “Is he a sock man?”

Shellie Zimmerman, the wife of the Florida man charged with fatally shooting Trayvon Martin, was arrested and charged Tuesday afternoon with one count of perjury, according to law enforcement officials.
The charges stem from what prosecutors have described as a series of lies and distortions made by the couple during an earlier bond hearing in April, when George Zimmerman and his family claimed they were broke. By late Tuesday afternoon, Shellie Zimmerman posted bond, set at $1,000. Continue reading “George Zimmermans Wife Shellie Zimmerman Arrested” »
The bad news first: the supermodel suffered a classic wardrobe malfunction last night, revealing more of her chest than she might have liked. After leaving the Toni&Guy show at London Fashion Week last night, Campbell had a slight nip slip while ducking into her car (and unfortunately for her, the Daily Mail‘s got the pics).
The good news: she may be engaged! Paired with her revealing black tuxedo-vest top, Campbell wore a giant diamond ring on her left hand, prompting Vogue UK to wonder aloud if the stunner is engaged to her boyfriend, Russian billionaire Vladislav Doronin.
The two have been dating since 2008 and live in Moscow together. There have been plenty of false “engaged!” alarms in the past, including this past April when the pair lit $82,000 worth of fireworks while vacationing in Greece.
But it’s still speculation, as Campbell did not confirm any rumors while chatting after last night’s fashion show.
Although it does get us thinking… we can only imagine a Campbell-billionaire wedding would rival Moss-stock in glitz and glam.
And of course, the million dollar question is: who will design the dress??
