A woman vows to commit suicide unless Asamoah Gyan marries her

A young Ghanaian woman says Black Stars arrow head, Asamoah Gyan must requite her love for him with a march to the altar this December or she will commit suicide.

The lady, Obaa Yaa, has said that she is so madly in love with the Sunderland striker to the point that suicide is the only option if Asamoah spurns her love proposal.

The Madina-based woman was on Deloris Frimpong Manson’s entertainment programme, Delay on TV Africa over the weekend professing her ‘deep’ love for Asamoah, who would be profoundly surprised his new fame is also grabbing for him new friends. Obaa Yaa revealed that she is helplessly in love with the football star (and now music star) and she wants him to marry her by December 24 or “I will kill myself,” she said.

She is mesmerized by Asamoah’s haircut, skin tone and the excellent skill he exhibits not only on the football field but also on the music scene.

According to Obaa Yaa, she has been having sleepless nights and to prove her love to the footballer, she has even learnt the star’s after-goal dance moves as well as his jig in the video of Castro’s latest hit song African Gils in which Asamoah features.

Dark-skinned, bushy-haired and fat Obaa Yaa was insistent on “I love you so much” and “I will kill myself”, and was all dancing to “African Girls” on the show.

Today in fashion: Flatter your face with earrings

by KATE HALIM

Do you believe that wearing a pair of earrings could flatter your face? There are few women who have perfect face shapes, others who are not so lucky think of changing their hair styles often to make them look great.

Earrings are a popular piece of jewellery and it is essential to choose the right ones for your face shape, because wearing the right earrings will lift and define your facial features. To determine your face shape, start by pulling your hair away from your forehead with a hair band, stand in front of a mirror and trace the outline of your face with a soap bar or lipstick in the mirror.

Below are some face shapes and best earrings to flatter your face:
The oval face is the ideal shape, and many kinds of earrings could go for this shape perfectly. You can try some sterling silver earrings, but avoid sporting a too-long face, don’t wear incredibly long shapes that will pull the face down.
Ladies who have round faces will have to make their face look slimmer, and the long length earrings are really helpful. Circular earrings, such as hoops, as well as tiny studs and button earrings are a no-no for this face shape.

To balance the wide forehead for the heart face, you should wear chandelier and teardrop earrings. Avoid earrings that have the same shape as your face, like heart-shaped hoops and short earrings. For ladies endowed with square face, which is characterized by strong and broad forehead with angular jaw and a square hair line, circular earrings, such as hoops do the magic. Square, rectangular or harshly angled earrings that echo your face shape should be done away with.

The oblong face shape is longer than it is wide, ladies with this face should lift their faces with statement chandelier earrings, as well as studs because they create appeal. Avoid long and angular earrings that echo your face shape. With the above tips, you are ready to flatter your face with the right earrings.

National hunt for a First Lady

President Ian KhamaBotswana President Ian Khama’s continued bachelor status is now increasingly worrying his countrymen and members of his own political party-Botswana Democratic Party (BDP).
Party leaders have since registered their concern and initiated a move to hunt for a suitable first lady.
Reports from the diamond rich southern African country indicate that during a party gathering on November 15 one brave former cabinet minister, Kebatlamang Morake asked Khama when he would marry.
Giving an impression that the whole scene was stage managed, Khama responded by saying “For your information, I want a woman who is tall, slim and good looking” reports say.
“You are guilty of ridiculing the President. The best that you should do is to go all out and look for the woman that you prefer for me as I hardly have time to hunt for a woman who will become my wife” Khama is quoted saying.
Vice President, Mompati Merafhe later told the gathering that his several attempts to remind Khama to marry hit a brick wall.
“I don’t think there is anything else that I can do for now because I did my very best during our days at the barracks to remind my boss to marry without success,”
Khama was a few years ago previously engaged to a Gaborone dentist, Dr Nomsa Mbere. Arrangements had been made for their marriage with the exception of a wedding date. But, all came to an abrupt end when Khama’s mother, Lady Ruth Khama died.

Robbed!!

I stated sometime ago on this blog that when it happens to an African American, or a Latino, or any other minority group,  it happens to all of us.
Brandy was just voted off of 'Dancing with the Stars' last night to the surprise and shock of majority of the viewers. I don’t usually watch unless there’s nothing on ESPN.
Let me say that the 'Dancing with the Stars' has become notorious for voting off obviously more talented African American celebrities earlier than most observers expect. Remember that Lil Kim and Toni Braxton were voted off early in the competition last season. I was actually sad in the case of Lil Kim because I personally like the girl. In 2009 Mya ejected unexpectedly.
Can somebody help me understand this?  Why should Bristol Palin who can barely keep a beat with a single shake or twist , which is exactly what most people want to see, stay in the competition while Brandy packs home? When a stellar contestant such a Brandy goes home when a talentless dancer like Bristol stays in, I just say OMG!
Do you feel different from what I feel? Go ahead; use the space below to tell others how you feel.

I feel pretty today

Naa Adjeley Addo
Naa Adzeley is from Newark, NJ and lives in Forth Worth, TX. She enjoys cooking and writing and defines shopping as her cardio.

Composed and submitted by Naa Adzeley in response to the post 'The Black woman new look'

I feel pretty today
Looking in the mirror at my less than perfect reflection
thinking, “Man, I need a tan”
I start to laugh
My gap tooth reflection smiles back at me
I look and feel great

I feel pretty
Cosmo, Vogue etc. may not agree
But who cares… I think I’m cute
My lips and hips may be thicker than they’d recommend
And… yes I do need to exercise more
And I could stand to lose more than a few pounds
But…I still look good

I feel pretty
My nails are done, minus the acrylic
My hair is fly and chemical free
Pretty pink toe nails in my traditional black ahenema
You can’t tell me that I’m not the shit
Throw on my shades as I walk out the door
Haute!!!

Mugabe hijacks Big Brother craze for political gain

Zimbabwe's big brother loser

Zimbabwe’s representative in Africa’s Celebrity Big Brother reality TV show landed in second place, but took home a prize bigger than the official jackpot, a date from President Robert Mugabe’s family. Reports from Harare say the Zimbabwean loser was whisked away to State House to meet Mugabe immidiately he landed.

Uti Nwachukwu from Nigeria won the official 200,000-dollar prize from the show. The celebrity Big Brother reality show locks up contestants from around the continent in a house.

Munyaradzi Chidzonga just lost out to Uti received a 300,000-dollar cheque from President Robert Mugabe on Wednesday, $100, 000 more than the winner.

Mugabe, who probably did not watch the show, also declared the voting as ‘not free and fair’. Really?

Zimbabwe teachers and nurses are on strike every other week in Zimbabwe so one wonders whether this is not a misplaced priority.
