Muntari in Sunderland Talk

Ghana Muntari

Sunderland have been granted permission to discuss a deal to sign Inter Milan midfielder Sulley Muntari.

If terms are agreed, the 26-year-old is expected to join the Black Cats on loan until the end of the season.

Muntari played in the Premier League while at Portsmouth during the 2007-08 campaign before leaving for Inter.

The Ghana international has struggled to secure first-team football at the San Siro and handed in a transfer request earlier this month.

Muntari has helped the club to two successive Serie A titles and the 2010 Champions League crown.

But he was out of favour under Rafael Benitez at the start of the season and has failed to convince new manager Leonardo of his worth, making only one Serie A start this term.

If he does move to the Stadium of Light, he will be joining international team-mates Asamoah Gyan and John Mensah.

Muntari to Join Gyan at Sunderland

Ghana midfield Sulley Muntari

Sulley Muntari is on the verge of joining the English Premiership League side Sunderland early this week, according to his agent.

Muntari has been a bench warmer at Inter Milan where he has been a surplus to the teams requirements and is keen for a return to the Premier League, having spent a season at Portsmouth in the 2007/8 campaign.

There are also other speculation that Tottenham, Liverpool and Everton are also in the race to snatch the 26-year-old.

Muntaris’ agent, Fabien Piveteau, says that is incorrect.

“That is not true, indeed if everything is sorted out with Sunderland he will be going there. We hope to have everything sorted shortly, maybe by Tuesday,” he told Sky Sports.

Despite previously stating that he would only play for a London-based club, Muntari now seems set on a loan move to the north east.

Piveteau added: “He knows Sunderland is a good club, possibly not the biggest but he wants to be playing football.

Asamoah Gyan is reportedly in communication with Muntari trying to woo the controversial midfield to join him at Sunderland.

Asamoah Gyan Was Never in Legon With Obaa Yaa, Spokesperson

A spokesperson for the  famed Ghanaian footballer Asamoah Gyan,  has denied reports that Gyan was seen with Obaa Yaa in the East Legon neighborhood late December of last year.

The woman in the story, Obaa Yaa, made worldwide headlines a few weeks ago by publicly admitting her infatuation with the Ghana hitman and vowed to commit suicide unless Gyan marries her.

A few websites reported later that after visiting Egypt for the Confederation of African Football Award ceremony, Gyan made a stop in Ghana before continuing his trip to join his English side, Sunderland Football Club. The sources alleged that it was during this time that Gyan was spotted near an East Legon Night Club with Obaa Yaa.

The Spokesperson, speaking on condition of anonymity because the football ace has not officially authorized her to address the rumors, said the stories are purely fabricated and that there is absolutely no truth in them.

Asked whether Gyan has made any decision with regards to Obaa Yaa’s proposal, the spokesperson did not answer directly but rather said “at the moment, Gyan is focused on helping his Sunderland side qualify for the European Championship and that is all he thinks about”.

On November 30, we reported of a young Ghanaian woman who vowed that unless Black Stars arrow head, Asamoah Gyan marries her, suicide would be the only option.

The lady, Obaa Yaa, has said that she is so crazy in love with the Sunderland ‘hitman’ that no will not be an option.
Obaa Yaa said she’s awestruck by Asamoah’s haircut, skin tone and the excellent skill he exhibits not only on the football field but also on the music scene.

Nobody expected any response from the no nonsense Ghanaian striker. Well, Gyan appeared on a popular TV program, the DENTAA Show, where after a couple of minutes of dance and chat with the hostess, he finally responded to Obaa Yaa.

Obviously, neither the dance, not the response is going to make life any better for Obaa.
