A list made public by a Belgian football magazine reveals three top African soccer stars in the top ten of highest paid footballers. They are Ivorian born offensive midfielder; Yaya Toure, who trades his football skills at English Premier League side; Manchester City, the captain of the Indomitable Lions and Inter marks man Samuel Fils Eto’o and another EPL ace Emmanuel Sheyi Adebayor.
Sport Foot Magazine writes that in the hit parade of highest paid footballers, Yaya Toure is at the 4th position with a yearly take home package of 10.8 million Euros, Eto’o is at the 5th position with 10.5 million Euros per year while Adebayor closes the top ten list with 8.4 million Euros per year.
From the Sport Foot Magazine list, Cristiano Ronaldo has a salary of 12 million Euros per year, excluding advertising contracts. He is the current highest paid footballer. The Portuguese man is followed by Manchester United’s England striker, Wayne Rooney, who earns 11.5 million Euros a year, while Argentinean, Lionel Messi got 11 million Euros from Barcelona.
In the list of the top 10 you also have the following players with their respective take home packages; Bastian Schweinsteiger of Bundesliga club Bayern Munich with a yearly salary of 9.7 million euros, at the 6th position. There is Zlatan Ibrahimovic at the 7th position with nine million euros per year, at the 8th position is Real Madrid’s Kaka, who takes home nine million euros per year and is tied with Chelsea’s John Terry, 9th position with nine million per year.

Sulley Muntari is on the verge of joining the English Premiership League side Sunderland early this week, according to his agent.
Muntari has been a bench warmer at Inter Milan where he has been a surplus to the teams requirements and is keen for a return to the Premier League, having spent a season at Portsmouth in the 2007/8 campaign.
There are also other speculation that Tottenham, Liverpool and Everton are also in the race to snatch the 26-year-old.
Muntaris’ agent, Fabien Piveteau, says that is incorrect.
“That is not true, indeed if everything is sorted out with Sunderland he will be going there. We hope to have everything sorted shortly, maybe by Tuesday,” he told Sky Sports.
Despite previously stating that he would only play for a London-based club, Muntari now seems set on a loan move to the north east.
Piveteau added: “He knows Sunderland is a good club, possibly not the biggest but he wants to be playing football.
Asamoah Gyan is reportedly in communication with Muntari trying to woo the controversial midfield to join him at Sunderland.
Didier Drogba has spoken about Chelsea’s dire form, and says that right now all they are looking to do is win two games back-to-back rather than get back into the title race
Chelsea’s hopes of keeping hold of their Premier League crown are slim as they trail Manchester United by seven points and have played a game more, while they have won only two of their last ten fixtures in the league.
Speaking to Sports Illustrated, Drogba said: “Instead of thinking about winning the title, we should think about winning two consecutive games. Then we’ll see. It’s not a joke, it’s true.
“We have to think about winning two consecutive games. That’s being realistic and it shows how badly we’ve been doing for the last month and a half. It’s something that has to change and we’re not far from that.
“Now everybody is coming back from injuries it is going to help us. When you don’t win games, yeah, you lose confidence. The only way to get back your confidence and be able to say we can still win the league would be to win two or three consecutive games.
“We’ve had a lot of injured players and the team has changed from last year. We lost five great players in Michael Ballack, Juliano Belletti, Deco, Ricardo Carvalho and Joe Cole.
“We replaced them with young players like Jeffrey Bruma, Gael Kakuta, Josh McEachran and Patrick van Aanholt. They are good players but need time to adapt.”
Chelsea began the season on fire, firing six goals past both West Bromwich Albion and Wigan Athletic in their opening two fixtures. But their free-scoring ways are now a thing of the past, while Drogba himself conceded that his form must improve.
Drogba continued: ”What happened is just that the season is very long. I said during that time that maybe some difficult moments would come, so we’d have to be sure that these moments wouldn’t be long. Unfortunately, it’s longer than what we thought it would be.
”I’ve had malaria and surgery before the beginning of the season for my hernia to make sure I’ll be okay for the next few years. I won’t say I’m happy because we’re having a difficult moment, but when you look at the amount of games I’ve played and the number of goals and assists I’ve had, I know it’s not the best, but it’s not bad.
”I can continue to improve that. I’m not worried about my performance. What is really important for me is for the team to go back to the winning way. If we win the league and I score only ten goals, for me it’s fine.”
Drogba is still overcoming the affects of that malaria problem, which was initially diagnosed as ‘flu.
”It was really bad, so bad that it lasted two months,” he added. ”It should be something that could be solved in a few weeks. At first the tests didn’t show that it was malaria. The doctor thought it was ‘flu, so that’s why we lost time.
”While we thought it was ‘flu I was playing, because for me I can handle ‘flu. I lost fitness, but I was working hard and trying to help the team. For me to be playing now, it’s already a good start because it was a difficult moment for me to have malaria. Very difficult.”
Drogba also played down the effect of the departure of Ray Wilkins, who was effectively sacked as the club’s assistant manager in November.
“He was part of the team for a bit more than two years. But even when he was there we lost some games,” Drogba explained. ”Last year we had a bad moment as well when he was there. I think it’s not about Ray leaving the club. It’s about the players not being able to play at their best, including me. For sure we’ll win a lot of games and lose some games, but it’s not an individual that would make a big difference like this in our results. I think it’s collective, the team.”
Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar has agreed to join Tottenham after the two clubs agreed a fee of about £2.5m.
The South Africa international, 28, who was nearing the end of his contract at Goodison Park has signed a four-year-deal with the north London club.
“To end speculation, I am going to Spurs,” confirmed Pienaar on his Twitter account earlier on Tuesday.
Chelsea also had a bid accepted for Pienaar by Everton, but failed to convince the player to join them.
“I’ve had brilliant years at Everton. It will always be special place in my heart.”
Spurs now hope the midfielder is granted a work permit in time for him to make his debut at Newcastle on Saturday.
They had seen an initial bid of £2m turned down before settling on a compromise figure of £2.5m with the Toffees after Chelsea had had a £3m bid accepted.
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp, speaking after his team’s 0-0 draw with Manchester United on Saturday, said: “I think he is a good player. He can play left or right or down the middle. I like him.
“I would not want to be putting the chairman under any pressure to buy him, but at £2m or £3m, he’s certainly not dear is he?”
Pienaar joined Everton from Borussia Dortmund in 2007, initially on a season-long loan, and went on to make 132 appearances for the Toffees, scoring 12 goals.
He initially made his name in Europe at Ajax after joining them from their club partners Ajax Cape Town in January 2001, helping them to the Dutch title in 2002 and 2004 before joining Bundesliga outfit Dortmund in 2006.
Everton boss David Moyes had said in August that only a “sack-load of cash” would persuade him to sell a playmaker voted the club’s player of the season last term.
But Pienaar, who has scored one goal so far this season, has failed to replicate that form during this campaign and Moyes has decided to cash in as his contract winds down.

Siphiwe Tshabalala, the South African soccer star who scored the first goal during the 2010 FIFA world Cup says he dreams of playing in Europe.
Tshabalala’s thunderous 55th-minute strike against Mexico that opened the scoring board in South Africa was nominated at the FIFA Puskas Awards but Turkey’s Hamit Altintop took the prize.
He said he feels he should have won but was still happy with the recognition.
“I am a little bit disappointed. That was the opening goal of the World Cup in Africa, but I am not bitter.”
Tshabalala had the opportunity to mingle with Andres Iniesta, Xavi, Barca coach Pep Guardiola and Maicon.
“They actually came over to greet and congratulate me and I was humbled to realize that they still remember me.” Tshabalala said.
Siphiwe Tshabalala currently plays for Kaizer Chiefs, but will be open to a move to Europe.
“At the moment I’m still part of Kaizer Chiefs and I’d like to play my football in Europe, but I won’t rush it. If a good offer comes my way then I would definitely go for it with their blessing,” the South African winger said.

The death of Uche Okafor on Thursday shocks theNigeria Football Federation (NFF).
Okafor’s body was found in his Texas apartment by his wife.
Mr. Uche Okafor served Nigeria national team with distinction.
Uche Okafor, 43, was in the Super Eagles for almost a decade, and was a key member of the squad when Nigeria won their second African Cup of Nations title, in Tunisia in 1994.
Okafor represented Nigeria at two World Cups.
He was in the Super Eagles squad at the 1994 World Cup in the United States – Nigeria’s first appearance in the global tournament.
He also played at the 1998 World Cup in France when Nigeria reached the second round.
The new coach for the Ghana Black Stars will be Serbian Goran Stevanovic. The Ghana Football Association (GFA) will make the official announcement by next week.
The Serbian is expected in Accra by next week to discuss his terms of the contract and salary.
On Wednesday, the GFA had announced that the new coach will be known within two weeks.
GFA board members met with sports ministry officials on Wednesday to discuss their plans of naming a new coach of the Black Stars.
The GFA, according to sources, told ministry officials that Stevanovic was the best coach they have agreed on after interviewing three coaches.
Other contestants were Portuguese Humberto Coelho and Ghanaian Herbert Addo.
A GFA official announcement is expected by next week.
The Black Stars have an international assignment next month and it is certain that the new coach will be named in time.
